I just got my riva510 in the mail and I am in love. I vaped for a little and it was pretty awesome, then I decided to try out the cartomizers that were suggested to me. vaping with these cartomizers is amazing, I have been at it all night. I cant wait to place some more orders, juices, tips and more cartomizers.

My only questions I have at the moment is do you all change out your cartomizers/atomizers for each juice you smoke or if you smoke it completely dry do you not notice the taste of previouos juices?

also Ive noticed the batt only gets warm if I take really long drags or pretty long drags back to back, is it possible that is due to me not having given the batteries a real full charge yet?

Once again thank you to everyone who has answered my questions up until this point

Glad to hear you're enjoying it! I'd recommend a different cartomizer for each flavor - or at least those you're sure of. Vaping them dry is not recommended, as you may end up with a nasty burnt flavor you can't get rid of.

I've had really good luck cleaning cartomizers with an oral syringe as mentioned on this video. I've also posted a written version here. The syringe allows you to easily pump hot water through the cartomizer, and I've found that distilled water eliminates any aftertaste from the water. The best part is that you can also use it to get them reasonable dry. Now you're ready for the next flavor!

I am a Riva510 fan. Bought the thing in December of last year and it still vapes flawlessly, day after day. It is the only personal vaporizer I use.

I do not use cartomizers, but in answer to the atomizer part of your questions, I simply blow the atomizer out between e liquids. You do this by removing the atomizer from the battery and hold the threaded side to a paper towel while blowing through the non threaded side as hard as you can. Whatever e liquid that might be left in the atomizer comes out on the paper towel. Yes, there might be a smidge of old flavor left, but a few quick vapes will have your new flavor going strong.

As far as the warmth of the unit, I have found that it isn't the battery that gets warm necessarily, but the atomizer and cone. I would say that warmth (as long as it isn't burning hot) is normal with consistent or long drags.

I have found that if you keep your Riva clean, it charges nicely and provides for reliable vaping. I had considered trying a different personal vaporizer, but 8 months of constant use tells me the Riva is a great value for the money, and if it ain't broke, why replace it? ;)

Good luck!

With atomizers...no need to have separate atties for every flavor. Just blow it out good.
On the other hand, it can be kind of nice to have a few atties in 'rotation', perhaps dedicated to a 'family' of flavors. For one, it gives atties a chance to rest. Bits of juice trapped in the wicks or bridge will barely be noticed when making the transition from one flavor to the next. You're more apt to have a 'spare' atty around if one pops. Also...you might find that some families flavors do better with your LR atty (hotter) while others are better on the SR atty (cooler).

With cartomizers......
Better to stick with a single flavor for a cart. Some flavors, if you stick with a similar family can stack OK...I.E. going from blueberry muffins to sugar cookies; going from vanilla creme to a pure vanilla, or from a weaker tobacco to a stronger one, but it's all at your own risk.
Some really strong flavors like menthol can go on top of almost any flavor and will usually drown the old flavor out in total pretty quickly.

I did used to buy pre-fills, vape them dry, then use the carts for my own liquids. Again I kept the new flavors farily close to the old ones...and it still didn't always work so well till I had vaped a few fills of my own liquid through the carto and got out all of the old flavor.

What kind of cartos did you get? Are they the dual coil kind? Those are pretty hard on an eGo/Riva battery. If you've fallen in love with the dual coils...you might want to start shopping for a big battery mod, or a usb pass-through (with a good power source) to vape on those regularly. In the mean time...get some single coil cartos or use atties with the eGo on a regular basis, and save the dualies for an occasional 'treat' till you have a bigger battery with a good 3amp switch. In short...vaping a dualie is kind of like screwing two atties on the same battery................double drain. If you're liking a dualie on a little Riva battery, wait till you try one on a good 5v pass-through or big battery mod :)

cartos are boge lr 510s. Those arent dual coils are they?

No those are not dual coils..... I vape a Riva 510 with the boge 2.0 also.... the hot thing is what it is.... mine is the same way after a long drag or multi-drags.... If you can stick to one flavor per carto... or as noted above at least a family of flavors.... vape it to damn near dry (very first burntish taste or lack of flavor) and drop a new flave in.... if your staying with the same flav, just top it off every here and again... I run like 4 cartos at once with different flavors, just cap it and put it away ( I get bored easily) If you like the fruity flavors try a boge 3.0 with it, I think they taste better that way. YMMV.

Boges are not dual coil, but are a fine carto with very good flavor. When you run low or feel like a change of pace, order some dual coils or try a horizontal coil carto. Or try a CE2, or a tank. The options are endless and improving constantly :)
Boges are somewhat more delicate about burning if run dry as they are a vertical coil carto. Try to make sure you keep them wet and top off frequently!

edit/ Third answer? I need to improve my typing speed!

No. The LR Boge can warm up your battery pretty good, but most of that heat you're feeling is probably from the carto itself. They are the 2 Ohm Boges right? Should be safe enough to vape your eyes out on a Riva/eGo battery with those :)

Possibly your battery needs charging....or maybe you overfilled them a little. Take your carto off and blow through the airhole into a tissue (hold the tissue under the thread end and blow.) Sometimes when I fill mine I get juice down in the center where the air is supposed to go, and they don't vape right. Try that. Also, I'd try changing out the battery....it could be getting low.

uh oh, I was just filling up a new carto and i was getting hardly any flavor or vapor from it. maybe like it was dry, it kept sucking so i thought maybe i just got a bad carto, so i switched and tried a new juice and it is doing the same thing, what give? any advice? im scared

Rule out the carto itself.
Try a different carto or atty.
If it's still not working...try your other battery.
Etc....

Probably just a bad carto. That does happen sometimes.
If you care to try to retrieve the juice out of a dud carto, do a 'reverse Taryn Spin'.

More on the spin shortly...

maybe i am under filling? and the juice hasnt made it to the bottom of the carto? this sound legit?

They will hold about 25 drops or so, so if you're not filling them with close to that much, then you could be underfilling them. After the first fill (with the 25-26 drops) then you'll only need maybe 15 drops or so to "top them off" when the vapor starts dropping.

i think i am under filling and the juice is not penetrating into the fiber stuff enough, i blew on it for quite a white before any juice came out and it was only a very little bit of juice, and i also dont think i put close to 25 drops in. does the juice need to thoroughly soak the fibers to vape ?

Yes. Yes. Yes. It needs to thoroughly soak it, and you need to top it off when it starts getting low. That's what makes a good cartomizer good...and it's what will keep it from getting ruined. Fill it until it looks slushy on top, then maybe shake it a couple of times (like you're shaking a thermometer) and put a few more drops in if it's not still slushy. At least 25 drops the first fill.
