So, I was sitting in my morning class today, and I reached into my hoodie pocket to grab my Protege for a quick stealth vape. I grabbed it, and about a split second later, I realized that my hand was burning!
Not literally burning, but the Protege was was hotter than hell - the whole entire Protege. It was so painful to get the battery cap off so that I could remove the battery. I was able to get the cap off, but I now have two huge blisters on my fingers. The battery was red-hot.
Anyways, I'm not exactly sure what happened here. I do know that the battery was inserted correctly, being that the positive terminal went into the Protege first. There is a zero percent chance that the spring went into the battery because it was inserted correctly. The blue wrapping on the battery is in mint condition, so the battery wasn't grounding out. Also, there is no chance that the switch was being triggered, because it was only resting in my hoodie pocket. The switch was not being triggered because of any pressure against it, simply because there was none. Incidentally, the atomizer still works, and by all logic should be dead if the switch was on.
This is just another case in point that we all should be using PROTECTED batteries. The irony here is that I used one of the blue batteries that came with the kit today because I forgot to charge my protected ones last night.
Any thoughts or ideas as to what happened. Was this just a battery failure?
