I have a young cousin that used to vape, but for what ever reason she quit! She told me she would rather just go to a hooka place!! I had no clue what that was so I googled it, that may have been a bad idea! After looking I see it may be worse for her that just haveing a few analog's a day!! Any advice! I don't really think I would like for her to keep going to the hooka place's! I will buy her a new pv if she is willing! I just afraid that she will think I'm attacking her, as she is freshly 18!

it depends on the hookah place

theres a lot of variables. i have been smoking hookah for over 10 years. ive never been a cig smoker. the tobacco i use is made in america, with the manufacture showing / telling me what ingredients he uses. the charcoal i use is the lowest CO producing charcoal w/ no accelerants.

the tobacco could contain food coloring (nearly all hookah tobacco, minus a few select brands). a lot of the harm really comes from the charcoal though. you can have accelerants, sulfur and a bunch of other crap in it. the instant light ones are notoriously bad. they create massive amounts of carbon monoxide, which is a carcinogen.

personally, i think vaping is safer simply because the atomizer / wick is less harmful than the carbon monoxide off the coal alone.

Thank you, I'd rather have a bit of an idea of what I'm talking about, before I open my mouth! 18 yr old teen's seem to know the whole world! Talking to teen's is hard, but if I have my fact's, I think I can help! I'm hoping it's more of a pv finding prob! Ya know!! Thank's again!

I totally know what you mean concerning teenagers. My 18 y/o son used to get on me to quit not too many years ago when I'd nearly cough up a lung in the morning. Now that I have finally quit with vaping going on almost 6 months, he's taking up occassional smoking cigarettes.

I've had several serious conversations about all of this. He's aware of the health dangers, and actually is kind of a health food nut. I even offered him his own PV if he'd just stay off of the cigs. He's convinced he'll never get addicted to cigarettes.

Teenagers!!

hookah is way worse than analogs. smoking hookah is the equivalent of a pack or 2 in one sitting. most people who hookah stay ignorant and think hookah is nowhere near as harmful as analogs and think it isnt addictive. all that smoke hookah produces and charcoal combined have higher carbon monoxide levels and take a bigger hit to your lungs than real cigs.

I had a friend who drank himself to death. In his last days, he was drinking almost a full 1.75 liter bottle of booze a day. He claimed he wasn't an alcoholic.

A lot of folks think tha the water for the hooka filters out all the nasties and you're save.. Nope..
Plus if you are using a Hooka / GOing to a hooka joint you probably aren't just sitting down for 5 min.. you are sitting down for an hour or two.. so basically chain smoking a packs of smokes @~5min to finish each smoke. Then add the negative effects of the charcoal.
In regards to saftey
Vaping >>>>> hooka

theres a lot of propaganda with hookahs, same as with vaping. any alternative to cigarettes has a lot of propaganda, personally i take any evidence with a grain of salt. most of the research on hookahs is really limited and from what i read, conducted poorly. too many variables to control for.

its def not equivalent to a pack or 2 in one sitting. ive never smoked a pack of cigarettes in my life. i get sick if i even touch 1. hookah does not do that to me.

there is also no smoke produced. the concept is the same as vaping. you heat up the nicotine from the tobacco with low heat, while using glycerine as the vapor element. theres no combustion for most modern style hookah tobaccos.

good charcoal can emit surprisingly low CO. its just that good charcoal is extremely expensive relative to the cheap stuff. going to a hookah bar, as opposed to knowing what you are doing is the big difference. most of them are crap imo

im not advocating smoking hookah, but i think its unfair to simply call people ignorant without knowing all the facts.

I'm just taking a stab in the dark here...but it may be less about the PV and vaping in general and be more about the current "trendiness" of hookah bars and the social aspect of it all. My general perception of vaping and vapers is that they are primarily comprised of former smokers...they're not vaping to look cool, or because it's "cool" and/or trendy...they're actively persuing an alternative to their smoking habit.

I know a few people who hit the hookah bar of couple of nights a week, completely different from going through packs on end of cigs each day. Those people that I know, are definitely into the "cool" factor of the hookah bar...plus, it gives them an excuse to get together and just hang out and hookah; it's a very social kind of thing.

My guess is that, her being as young as she is, she's probably into both aspects of it...it's cool, and it's social. Personally, I wouldn't be overly concerned with it unless she's spending countless hours on a daily basis at the hookah bar. A little hookah in moderation is no biggie in my estimation. I show up may a couple of times a year...I'd probably do more, but I'm busy...work...kids, wife, etc. Generally speaking, if/when I have time to go to the bar, it's not of the hookah variety

Having been to a Hooka bar a couple of times I would agree that for an 18 yo, it is probably as much social as anything. I rather enjoyed it. Not near what I expected. (Remembering back in my college days when hitting on a Hooka was a completely different experience).

If one does Hooka once in a while but is not a regular smoker, I say no big deal. Maybe not even as addicted to nicotine as most vapers are. However, if a person is a regular pad'er and does Hooka, that would certainly double the health risk. There is also the possibility that Hooka will give someone who is a non cig smoker a taste for tobacco.

The hooka is pretty similar as far as flavor goes. Not sure about the nicotine or tar. I dont use mine much because I feel like it gives me a headache like when I smoked cigarettes. But Never the feeling of nicotine. The e cig is the way to go for nicotine, the amount and feel of smoke can vary with an e cig, where it can come close to the feeling of a hookah. So if you find the right e liquid, and e cig then theres really no reason to smoke out of a hookah. Except in social cases, because sitting at home with your charcoals and crap is just not worth it to me. hopefully e cigs are safer than the hookah

Where I live, hookah is a social event. I got a buddy that has his own hookah and has friends over all the time. I also used to frequent a certain coffee shop and outside in the plaza area a group of people would set a hookah right in front of the shop on the tables and smoke in front of everybody. I definitely don't miss my throat feeling all clammed up the morning after a night of hookah.
