When I was a smoker, I always thought we needed speak-easys where you could smoke and drink without getting all the flack. Now I'm starting to think the same thing of vapor.

On topic, how the hell does the FDA, anti-smokers, and U.S. government approve hookah which delivers more nicotine in a few minutes than a pack of cigs, and is known to be equally dangerous, yet has serious issues with people who vape and want to shut us down.

Another thing... I know that this probably isn't a popular opinion around here, but I hope this thing NEVER becomes a medical device. I know many people think this should be considered a cessation device, but I seriously think they are barking up the wrong tree. Any chance of our recreational use will be eliminated, and this device will be locked down so hard, we will have 1/1000 the options we have now, 1 flavor (probably .... flavor), and it will cost 50x the current price, and you will have to get a prescription. Why would anyone fight for that?

my guess? taxes... once they figure out a way to regulate and tax, e-cigs will be fine.

hookah's use tobacco which is taxed...once the govt can figure a way to tax, all the bans and hoopla will die down.

I've got a pretty simple solution for that. Why not just tax the nicotine instead of the individual devices? Control and regulate the import, production, and quality of nicotine.

It's just like the whole selling to underage kids thing. Why the heck didn't they make the law about the nicotine instead of outlining specific tobacco products? That's like saying that alcohol is safe to sell to kids, but not if it's in a beer or liquor bottle. I guess that's our government for ya...

I'm not sure where you are getting that idea, but this is from the ECF Policy Statement:

ECF supports the classification and taxation of the e-cigarette as (in the following order):

1. A consumer product of the same type as tobacco or alcohol
2. An alternative nicotine product of the consumer variety
3. A Harm Reduction product
4. A tobacco product

ECF does not support, and will actively assist campaigns against, the classification of e-cigarettes as a pharmaceutical or medical device of any kind, or as a medicine. Neither cigarettes nor alcohol are licensed medicines and there is no reason to classify e-cigarettes as a medicine since they are clearly not, and clearly a consumer product. In addition, according to the majority of doctors who have expressed an opinion, they are clearly safer than tobacco cigarettes.

Personally I don't want to see these classified as a tobacco product OR a medical product. Tobacco they'll sin tax us out of existence, Pharma they'll try to bump the price a ton and maybe make it prescription only.

I'd like to see Electronic cigarettes under the "herbal remedies" category. No sin tax, No pharma involvement.

As for vs hookah bars...I'm up for starting a vape bar! :D
