So I kinda got into a stupid little argument with someone on one of the groups I'm on in Facebook. A guy posted something like "I love my hookah pen!" I said "you mean ecig?" And he's like "No it's a hookah pen and much better than an ecig and cheaper too!" At this point I was kinda offended like what you think your disposable gas station ecig with with a wooden body (made to look like a hookah mouth tip) with a prefilled carto is better than a PV??! I was thinking he had something like the Vookah , and then he came back at me saying it was not a disposable and can use attachments and the store he went to had like 400 flavors. Then he posted a pic of his device, which clearly looks like some kind of Ego battery with an Evod on top. So I politely informed him that most people in the vaping community would consider that an ecig, in which he retorted "No the guy at the shop told me this is not an ecig, this is a hookah pen, but the attachment on top is indeed an Evod." So yea... I hated sounding like some pretentious know it all, because I am not like that, but I thought as a semi advanced vaper, I should educate him on, especially if he wanted to get more into it. I eventually just let it be because I didn't feel like arguing with someone I don't even know over something this silly, but I did recommend he check out the forum. He's probably looking for the Hookah Pen Forum though. I mean.. am I wrong?? Is there a "hookah pen" that is NOT an ecig? Or is it the same thing essentially?

Same thing, they are just trying alternate marketing.
People believe hookahs are safer than cigs (they aren't), so a hookah pen must be super hella safe.
Plus, hookahs are in with the hipsters and they will pay more for them, so hookah pens are usually priced higher as well.
Sorta like how every 2-3 weeks some now person here will start a thread about how calling them e-cigs is bad for all vapors and we need to re-name the forum, etc.
Glad you were able to let it go though.

I often draw a parallel between hookahs and pv's. They are MUCH more closely related than cigarettes and pv's. I do so when describing them to people who are curious about my ecig set up, and they, almost all of them, are instantly more receptive to the idea and the unusual shape (Not looking like a cig). I describe it as 'a portable, personal, electronic hookah'. And it makes perfect sense to everybody who I've said it to.
A while back I was saw a thread about Playboy branding an ecig. Anyway, that was being marketed as an "e-hooka" even though it was some clearo, (can't remember if it was EVOD or not), on an eGo battery.
I'm just curious to what the next marketing buzzword is going to be. Personally, I'm hoping for P.E.N.I.S. or Personal Enhanced Nicotine Inhalation System. That friends is buzzworthy!!

Why? A hookah is only an immobile pipe (as in pipe-smoking) with a water-cooling device strapped onto it. We don't water-cool our vapour, and we don't use desk- or floor-standing devices with flexible pipes or multiple heads.
That Playboy e-cig announcement pops up here about once a year as well, or least I've seen it twice now, anyway.

I agree, the term "hookah pen" probably just sounds more appealing than an electronic CIGARETTE. But still.. it kinda irks me. Unless there is something distinctively different about them than an e-cig. I mean, if its filled with juice that resembles shisha but still uses the same electronic parts as an ecig but just has a different body, it is still an e-cig. Just like the mods that look like sherlock pipes and stuff.
Exactly, it's all just marketing, and marketing is just a way to convince someone they NEED to buy something.
They both produce smoke from tobacco.
The liquid in a hookah is only water. The smoke is bubbled through it in order to cool it down. The water is not consumed.
There's a tobacconist down our road that sells many different flavours of tobacco for pipes and roll-ups. It's still tobacco.
A closer analogy would be to say that a PV is to cig-a-likes as pipes are to cigarettes. Pipes also come in many different shapes and sizes, they are bigger and heavier than a cigarette and require more maintenance.
The liquid thing is a red herring.
My point was, e cigs, and cigarettes have next to nothing in common besides the fact that you inhale nicotine from both of them and a couple outdated models of pv's were engineered to look like cigarettes. That's it. Other than that, it's a completely different beast altogether, much more closely related to hookahs and pipes.
I wasn't saying that I tell people it's an e-hookah, or a portable hookah, just that it's a nice analogy because they hold more similarities than with cigarettes.

I HAVE heard of the "hookah pen", which I believe is a brand name. I'd look it up... but I don't really care. What does it matter what we call them?
Well, let him be. Its obvious he's shame-based and couldn't deal with anyone (himself-included) thinking he was doing anything even remotely connected to SMOKING!!!! or horror of horrors might actually be a recovering x-smoker. Some people really, really, need to be politically correct. They grew up in a PC world.
I just tell people I have a "Steam Pipe" and they tend to oooo and ahhh. I personally do not like the term e-cig, as I converted from Cigars not Cigarettes. But different strokes for different folks.
