Neither here nor there
Alas, I have removed my smoke-free ticker.

Ran across a hookah shop and they had some set up for customer use.
Since I had never tried one before, I went ahead and did it.
It was very nice, but not something I could do at home.
My kids would think I were nuts.
I guess I tried it because they are exotic-looking and the flavors are interesting.
I felt like the cheshire cat, but I think he was smoking opium.

Maybe I'll investigate the e-hookah, LOL!

So, I am being honest and starting over.

Tomorrow.

hookahs don't count. (smiling with an evil grin;))
I tried my sons 2 weeks ago. He brought it over and it was fun.
I didn't count that as smoking but all the real smokes I've had in the past few days I do so I can't have a sticker:(

Yeah, don't beat yourself up over "cheating" once. Two months ago, I bummed an analog off a friend of mine and bought a three-pack of Black and Tans—just to see what they were like. I got three drags into the analog before I had to trash it (or puke) and maybe two drags into the cigarillo. They taste like crap now. But hookahs are different, I used to smoke one with my friends pre-ecig and they are smoother. But they're alot harder to fit in your pocket than an ecig :)

Do any of the suppliers have the e-hookah's for sale yet?
I saw where one of them has a coming soon thingy.
That would be something to try for sure.
geeker..please! You need to put your smoke free back up! I am sure a lot of people have had one puff or 6 and still remain smoke free. You have to test the water once in a while.

Check this out:
Hookah smoking: Is it safer than cigarettes? - MayoClinic.com

"It's a myth that hookah smoking is safer than smoking cigarettes. The tobacco is no less toxic. Hookah smokers actually inhale more tobacco smoke than do cigarette smokers because of the massive volume of smoke they inhale... Although many believe that the water in the hookah filters out all the "bad stuff" in the tobacco smoke, this isn't true. According to a World Health Organization advisory, a typical one-hour session of hookah smoking exposes the user to 100 to 200 times the volume of smoke inhaled from a single cigarette. Even after passing through water, tobacco smoke still contains high levels of toxic compounds, including carbon monoxide, heavy metals and cancer-causing chemicals (carcinogens). Hookah smoking also delivers significant levels of nicotine — the addictive substance in tobacco."

It is smoke! When you do hookah the tobacco is burning - at the end of a hookah session the tobacco is all burnt up. It works much in the same way as a .... - the plant material is burned up and then the smoke is passed through water as a filter but it is still smoke.
Hookas dont produce smoke. It is vapor, much like our PVs. You may still use your smoke-free ticker guilt free.

Indeed, I've been trying to tell people this for months.

No, it's not smoke, unless you don't know how to use a hookah. If the tobacco is burnt at the end of the session then the hookah wasn't used properly. It should just be dried out and a little "baked" looking, but not charred.

The whole purpose of using a metal screen to put the coal on is so that it doesn't burn the tobacco. If the hookah bowl is loaded properly and started the right way, and if the coal is moved around and the valve is properly adjusted during the session, and if the hookah isn't inhaled from excessively, then none (or very-little) of the tobacco should be burnt.

And the purpose of the water is not to filter anything, because it doesn't. It's purpose is to cool the vapor, because the heat of smoke/vapor is what actually causes most of the damage in the lungs.

No, you're not exactly wrong, a lot of people do end up inhaling smoke from hookahs because most people don't really know how to use them properly unless it's part of their culture. I too was burning my shisha and inhaling smoke until an Egyptian friend taught me the way of the hookah in my first semester of college. He even made his own shisha with fresh fruit and molasses and rolling tobacco.

I wasn't trying to prove you wrong, I was just trying to educate forum members such as yourself because it seems that a lot of people are under the same impression that you are. I'm sorry if I came off a bit aggresive, it just frustrates me that so many people believe that hookah tobacco is "smoked." Part of the reason why is because even among people who know how to use a hookah properly, they still refer to it as "smoking a hookah."

Thanks for correcting us - whenever I hookahed with my bro and his friends we burned the hell out of the tobacco and I always got burnt taste a lot of the time. They were hookah addicts though - they would take consecutive huge hits until they got nauseous... probably the wrong way to do it.

Haha, that's definitely the wrong way to do it. The purpose of a hookah is to enjoy the taste of the shisha and relax like with a cigar, not hit it like a "tobacco" ..... There's barely any nicotine in shisha, in fact many varieties now use herbal mixes instead of tobacco, so if the purpose of taking huges hits was to try to get a nicotine buzz, then your brother and his friends are quite a foolish bunch.

I don't think they were even doing it for the nicotine - just the deprivation of oxygen
