hello everyone.
in september of last year, my mom ever so kindly spent $150 as an early christmas present to set me up with an ego-t and a lot of juice. i made an offhand comment that my parents should try out pvs as a solution to smoking. my mom admitted the thought had crossed her mind, since she knows i really love vaping.
my dad has been smoking since he was 13, and i think my mom started in between 15-18. they smoke lights, and they smoke about 1/2 a pack of 25 a day, maybe a little more. they've tried quitting cold turkey, with that purple pill to quit smoking that was popular about 10-12 years back (for the life of me i can't remember what the crap it's called), and with champix. they've pretty much resigned themselves as life long smokers who will eventually die from the habit. they're also fairly conservative. my dad told me i "couldn't" hand roll my own cigarettes, because they were different from tailor mades. i told him i rolled a nice smoke and asked why not, and he just told me because it looked different and was weird.
anyway. i want to get my parents something that is as discreet as quality will allow. i was thinking of some joye 510s, which i think would be the most successful aesthetically. of course i really don't feel they'll be stoked on the 280 mah battery life, and i don't want something like that to discourage them. my regular supplier (www.CANVAPE.com) used to have an 1100 mah ego/smoketech dcc 5 ml carto starter kit, but they no longer carry it. for the price i think the smoktech e-power 14650 510 kit with an extra pack of smoktech dcc xl lr cartos would be a really solid starter kit.

Smoktech E-Power 14650 510 Kit

in addition to the kit i would also plan to get them 2x5ml dropper bottles (to carry around extra juice for topping off), a carrying case, and 2x 30 ml bottles of juice. they've smoked dumaurier lights (my mom is now hooked on the peter jackson lights /barf) for most if not all of their smoking careers. i was hoping to get them one bottle of tv rugged blend, and tv mojito (just because it is such a light flavor) @ 16mg.
when it all arrives i'm going to prefill a carto of each flavor for them, then prefill each 5ml bottle with a different flavor and load up the cases. i've had no luck with atomizers, and it lead to a frustrating beginning to my vaping adventure. i've found cartomizers to be the most reliable vape to me, so i'd like to provide them with some. i will also be typing up some instructions on how to use everything.
i'm planning to hopefully give them this on mother's day as a composite mother's day/father's day gift. this is quite a substantial investment for me, and i'm wondering if this sounds like a user friendly introduction? the kit i am considering is the "cheapest" kit with a decent battery life that i could consider.
the past few mother's/father's day i've been unable to visit (i know, i'm an awesome kid) due to a neverending work schedule, and it would be great if i could get them off cigarettes. think 60 mls of juice for two adults would be an ok start? they're slightly afraid of change and i think the switch to vaping may be gradual.
thanks for reading my novel, everyone!

I'm also thinking about buying a kit for my father for his birthday coming in a couple months. I'm thinking a kgo like I have and some kind of cartomizer that is easy to fill. I will also have to make him clear step by step directions. He lives 10 hours away so I can't really help him out in person. He has smoked for about 30 to 40 years at least.

There is a V2 Ultimate kit in the Classifieds, maybe they would ship to Canada

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/sale-trade/284294-us-fs-v2-ultimate-starter-kit.html Here's the link, taking offers so might get a great deal.

While I think V2cigs is a rip off price wise, it's a decent KR808-d1 kit, with 3 batteries and a passthru that is great for car or sitting near an electrical outlet with adapters. It should get 2 people started.

Pre-filled cartos might make it easier for them to do it on their own, since there are no scary looking juice bottles. A few sample packs from a place like Vapor4Life would give them a good feel for flavors they like. Main thing is for them to get started with something and KR808 are 4.2 down to 3.7 devices and changing batteries when new isn't all that bad since it gives you the cig look-a-like security.

Maybe you could add a gift certificate at your favorite vendor so they could order more juice they like if they continue. They could always pass it back to you if they don't.

I'm impressed with your generosity and willingness to help your folks out. Some folks, not just old folks like me, are afraid to try new things because of perhaps a fear of failure. If they really want to stop smoking they will surely benefit from your gifts.

thank you. :)
and just to clarify for everyone, i don't mean they are "slightly afraid of change" because they are "old", but just that cigarettes are "familiar" and "normal".

My mom is in her early 60s and quit smoking using an e-go(i'm not saying get them one, just what worked for my mom). At first she was right there with me... then backtracked.. then finances made things harder and she gave the PV another go and that time it stuck. Now I think she's going to be coming on close to 5 months smoke free after a 40 year habit!

I think one of the keys would be that they of course want to. Dripping can be easier in the beginning. It's umm less "intimidating" at first for whatever reason. Heck even I was all "I LOVE dripping it's soo much better then cartos!" at first lol then I got the hang of cartomizers and its a different story. 30ml each between the both of them to get them started sounds good! Maybe try 3, 10 ml flavors for each parent of flavors you think they'd like. Their favorite fruit, a mint sort they might like, a really great tobacco you think might match up. If they know they can vape and smoke at the same time that can help too. Cigarettes will gradually taste more disgusting as they vape more often. woo!

Try to empathize with them you care about their health(as i'm sure you already have), how they will feel better and with more energy. You understand that cigarettes are comfortable for them but you're just hoping a PV would better their health and if it gets tricky, hey you are always there to help them out along the way. I hope it works out for you and your parents. You are doing such a great thing for them!!

Hello, nice of you to want to get your parents off the smoke. My wife and I started vaping about a month ago after 35yrs of smoking each.We started with the cig style, but changed to a Kgo1100 after endless charging.I think it might be easier for someone to change to vaping if it is an e-cig stly to start with since it's closer to what they're used to (my opinion and could be wrong). But after they're used to vaping they could move to something bigger, after they tire of charging. The bad thing is money spent on something that isn't used for long. But if gets them off smoke it is worth every penny!:)
