Hey, I'm 46 and my mom feels the same way. Whatever. We just don't talk about it much, but she did buy me an sx mini m class for my vapeversary, so maybe she's coming around.
Whaaaa  .... I'm curious how your mom knew about the SX Mini M Class!!!! :p
You must've told her what you wanted & she gave you the money to get it. :p

I was joking with her that she should get me something nice to celebrate one year of not smoking, and she agreed. I wasn't expecting her to :). So I showed her what I wanted, and even agreed to the rose color, as I knew it would make her happy that it was a feminine color.

Op, Tell your parents Hello from a 61yr. old Ex-45yr Smoker with 5 kids and 10 Grand kids.

vaping was the only way I could break the chain and I did so with the First Vape(over 2.5years ago)

I'm glad vaping is working for you and as an Adult/Parent/Grand Parent - I see no reason to worry that Vaping will lead you to anything but a Better(Healthier) Life.

Best of Luck!

I have never heard of a case where someone started vaping and it caused them to move on to cigarettes. Just the opposite - people move away from cigarettes by vaping.

Thinking that vaping will lead to smoking other stuff {self-moderated} is akin to thinking drinking water will lead to drinking vodka.
For me, breast milk apparently led to bourbon and scotch.

At the risk of incurring disagreement you live in their house so the old thing of "their house, their rules" applies and sitting them down to educate them might well make things worse and create a more hostile environment. Be more subtle with your vaping if you must do it in the home and wait till they are ready to learn more about vaping, and be wary of advice on the net even if it's well intentioned the people giving it won't be the one's to deal with potential consequences.

Not sure where your parents get their news, but they are getting bad information. My mom is 94, most of the nicotine users in the family are vapors and she has no problems. She actually doesn't understand when people have issues with it. She does get nervous when her brother comes to town, given he smokes and she lives in a non-smoking retirement apartment complex.

There are two types of people in this world. The first type make informed decisions/opinions based on reason, scientific validity and common sense, and are always open to changing their minds in the face of new evidence.

The second type make decisions based on emotion, unsubstantiated information, hearsay and only accept new data that feeds their already well established confirmation bias (all of us succumb to confirmation bias sometimes...the trick is to recognize when one is doing that and correct it).

So the question is, which type are your parents?

At first my dad was always saying oh e cigs will kill you faster then a regular smoke but i have been able to breath better since vapping i can now taste stuff that i could not taste when i smoked for 1 year. i worked for a vape shop and a lady came in who smoked all her life she switched to e cigs and was grateful cause we helped her kicked a nasty habit

    Good luck man.

If it's all blah blah blah to them, just say "Look, I learned to smoke by watching you!"

    jk. Don't.

The "you can vape OTHER STUFF" argument has never made much sense to me, you can smoke OTHER STUFF in a cigarette/cigar just as easy. In fact, it is quite popular. {Moderated} and pipes are for nicotine as well, while pipes are pretty traditional, how many people use {Moderated} for nicotine??

Most of the resistance from long term smokers is just excuses so they don't have to learn a new way of doing something that might take a bit more effort. Some of us embrace it, and end up enjoying it, but that hump for some can be a challenging one.

I agree "educating" your parents is likely to make things worse.
Parents are pretty used to throwing up a wall when their kids start trying to be a know it all, in their mind they will always know more about everything than you do (unless you become a PHD -- then they will still know more about everything except your major ;) )
calmly try to insert a few observations here and there -- maybe show them an article that debunks whatever evidence they are holding on to (ie the formaldehyde thing) -- and maybe tell them that the [Other Stuff] users you know prefer ciggs. Tell them your lungs and throat hurts when you smoke the stinkys but that doesnt happen with vaping and it keeps you away from something you suspect is already hurting you...
But bringing them a list of "facts from the internet" is probably just going to get them stirred up and come down on you harder.

If your parents are unwilling to listen you are probably going to tick them off by trying harder to make them and that is going to make things harder for you.

Is one of your parents more apt to listen than the other? If so try talking to that one, one on one without the other around and see how that goes. If it doesn't work then just give it up and stealth vape until you can get out on your own. Sometimes it is just better to keep the peace.

Remember this though if you ever have kids yourself, you will always have a better relationship with an open mind.

    Good luck.

I am going to echo "their house, their rules" With that being said.. you know your parents and none of us do so I think you have a much better idea of how to approach them (or not to) than we do. Since they smoke they are likely, as one poster said above, trying to justify their behavoir. Their accusation of your vapinng leading to other things is just more validation in their minds as to why not to try it.
