I have two boys, 10 and 8 years old.

I've smoked cigarettes their whole lives, but they have no idea that I do. I don't smoke a lot when I'm home in the evening, and when I do, it's out in the garage or on the deck for a quick smoke. They've never seen me smoke, and it's always been pretty easy to hide it from them (I normally would just keep smokes in the glove box of my car)

I just started vaping yesterday, and I can see it's a bit trickier. I'd much rather they didn't see me vaping either, but between having to have them charging (using an outlet in the house), little bottles of liquid, etc. , I'm not sure how I can hide it from them. A pack of cigarettes is just a little box that even if they saw it, it would be no big deal. My mod looks like a little light sabre or something and as soon as they see it they'll have all kinds of questions, so I'd rather they didn't see it.

Does anyone else have this issue? Do you do it in front of your kids? What do you tell them it is?

I'm not a mom, but when I'm out shopping or eating I put my stuff away if I see children out of respect. I also 'hide' my stuff in a box under my bed out of respect for my non-smoking family...it's just something we live with. On the other hand I think vaping is healthier than smoking and if you sat your kids down and talked to them...they're probably old enough to understand what vaping is. It might be hard to justify you vaping but...it's worth a try. It's a huge advancement to our culture and a healthier advancement. It shouldn't have to be hidden...but if you feel it's best at this time...just be smarter about where you put your equipment.

I'm proud of you for making the switch.

Stay strong!

Hello & Congrats on making the switch to vaping!! I don't have kids but I do have nieces. I never smoked around them & when I tried cover it up they still had some idea that I did or that something was off. They would always say auntie you smell like coffee. Lol! This is a really tough situation to be in but here's what I did. I understand that I don't have kids but my nieces & baby nephew are my babies! So here goes...I couldn't hide it so I sat them down & said.,.remember when you would say that auntie smelled like coffee...well I was a smoker & I was ashamed for you to know because I couldn't imagine either one of you smoking like me. I told them that I started when I was pretty young & even though I thought I enjoyed it I knew it was really bad for me. Right before I started vaping my mom had a friend that died from lung cancer. I showed them my PV & told them that her passing shocked & scared the mess outta me & that I didn't want that to happen to me & that I wanted to be around for them for a very long time. They looked at my PV & asked me a couple of questions. In the end it was all hugs & kisses & they...my then 12 & 13 year old nieces told me that they were proud of me. I still don't vape around them but at least now when they visit or I visit I not feel like I need to move & hide all of my gear.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do!
