If you want to subohm, but the Subtank vapes too hot for you, then try the Atlantis. The Atlantis vapes much, much cooler. With the Subtank, and even with the 0.5 ohm coil, I can't vape it higher than 22 or 23 watts. Any higher and the vape is just too warm for my taste, even with the airflow set wide open. With the Atlantis, I can go above 30 watts and it never gets warm.

If you were hitting it mouth to lung I'd bet you burnt it a little. Those hit around 30 watts and require a good amount of airflow to keep the coil temperature down to a comfortable vape. Also like another post says, you would want your nic level at 6mg tops. 3 is best imo.
There are still great options for mouth to lung inhalers, as someone suggested, the nautilus series is good. There are even drippers with tight airflow if you like rebuilding stuff. A lot of the high end RTAs seem to be tight airflow designs. The kayfuns and Russians. (little too expensive for me).
Shops should ask more questions about a person's vaping preferences before just pushing the latest gadget on someone who might not even enjoy it.
That said I have a subtank and love it but that's just my style. Also a dripper. Which I blow some tasty but large clouds with. You can still get good flavor from big clouds.

I really think it was too hot because that's what it felt like...high heat hitting the lungs. I didn't even cough just burned real bad and knocked the wind out of me. Just wonder if my lungs are more sensitive then others are.
You've said several times it was burning- I'm wondering if the coil was properly primed. I also have asthma & the same setup doesn't burn when wicked right. The cotton in the coil needs to be wet with juice before you can begin vaping it. Did you watch what they guy in the store did?

Also like Train said, they took you from one extreme to the other. Sad fact of B & M stores. Always trying to set someone up with sub ohm gear who may not be ready for it.

Drop by my local vape shop today and the guy set me up with an aspire cf sub and a kanger sub mini. Gave it a try earlier and it knocked the wind out of me and i felt like i inhaled fire into my lungs. My lungs are still burning... I did adjust the air intake and even with the air intake wide open, it still did not help. I do have asthma and wondering if it's just too hot for my lungs..i didn't cough..just had the wind knocked out of me and felt like i inhaled extremely hot air..least for my lungs maybe. I am using halo's tribeck 6mg.

It just felt like the air was too hot for my lungs....is that possible? I started to go with something like a provari that allowed me to adjust watts...now i am starting to wonder if i should take this back and go with something that allows for that. Thus far i have been using a triton and aqua smoke pen..but wanted to get away from replacing coils and be able to build my own as well as improve my vaping experience.
ok I'm gonna get some flames for this but theses sub tanks are not right for most people and we need to stop pushing them so much. There are so many complaints just like this one I hear all the time hanging out at local shops.

Deanna, take that set up back if you can and go with your original choice in the provari. It's the most reliable and best supported mod out there if you like the tube format. Pick up a kayfun lite+ or similar rta since you want more of a mouth to lung inhale in a rebuild able atomizer and stay away from sub ohm. Sub ohm needs huge airflow and good juice flow to be somewhat cool and you have to direct lung inhale or you get burnt hot vape.

For a dripper try a vertex v2. You can run it in single coil set up at 1.5-2.2 ohms on 10-15 watts and get really good flavor and vapor.

As for your asthma Andria is probably the best to talk to since she has it and can give you advice from experience.

Oh my gosh you guys my lungs feel soo raw and irritated this morning i wanna cry. Last night i took the liquid out and unscrewed the piece that holds the coils and there was metal shavings above the coil towards the top where you put drops in to prime the coil...it appears to be coils that had separate because there were only 3 coils left on the main coil piece.

One thing i will say is that there is a tremendous need to better inform customers about the differences in these devices. Had i known it required you to do a lung hit, produced hot vapor and that certain techniques were needed to avoid too hot of a vapor i would have known immediately that this device would not be an appropriate fit for me. I have had a horrible experience which has now resulted in a painful experience simply because there was no guidance provided by the maker or seller of the product. Surely by now they have had several people have negative reactions to this device, not because the device itself is faulty, but because people like me bought it and only after having a negative painful experience learned why this device was not a good fit for ME....something that could have been easily avoided with the proper guidance by the maker and seller of this product.
I am still not clear...is it the aspire that is over powering the tank coils to run extra hot vapor, or is it the tank coils that go with this tank that are causing such a hot vapor. Is it the tank that is requiring me to do deep hard hits to prevent too hot of a vapor or is it just designed to work that way for entertainment? geez, i just wanted to replace cig smoking with what i thought was a cig mimicking device so i was not expecting this device to require inhaling techniques like this.

I am sorry i am just frustrated this morning and probably a good sign i should wait until later this afternoon to go back to the shop with the way i am feeling right now. I am not giving up on vaping, but i am discouraged right now and my trust with makers and sellers of these products is very low at the moment.

Its both pieces working together, the cf is a raw battery meaning the lower you go on resistance( ohms) the hotter it will keep getting.

Try to relax and don't panic, the burning feeling will pass in a day or 2, I feel bad that you had to experience this,

When you go back explain that the whole sub ohm and lung hit experience is more then you can handle. And you need a more traditional setup.
If they won't help do that come back here and we will guide you to something online that will be more enjoyable for you.

Update

Well i finally found what works for me and yes the vape shop did work with me. Sadly when i went to return the setup Sunday their shop was closed down due to system problems. I went back yesterday and got a older guy who was great and set me up with a itaste mvp 2.0 and a nautilus. I got home to only find the led screen was defective and had to turn around and make another 20 mile trip back to the shop for an exchange to only learn they were out of that model. The guy offered me a itaste mvp 3.0 advanced personal vaporizer in exchange with a $20 discount given all the trouble i had been through...and he was not happy that one of their employees set me up with a sub system without asking the right questions and explaining what to expect from such a setup given this type of system is not right for a lot of people, especially those with compromised respiratory systems. He made things right and that speaks volumes to me as a customer.

So last night i finally got to fire it up...smoked the coils or burnt the juice not sure but i think the voltage was too high or did not give it enough time for the wicks to soak maybe. Emptied it put in a new atomizer, primed it and let it sit over night...started off at the lowest setting this morning and worked my way up and found my sweet spot at 3.8v....all i can say is oh wow!! what a perfect fit for me.

Going from a "pen" to a "subohm" tank and mechanical is a HUGE shift in style - there IS definitely in-between gear. You might even want to try a carto-tank...
Don't everyone laugh - I still love my cartotanks.
It's a smooth draw, pretty good flavor (though not as intense as a dripper), and easy.
There are those vapers who prefer a "cooler" vape, and those who prefer a "warmer" or even "hotter" vape.

I for one prefer a cooler vape (a Hootle Puffer). Although I don't use them any longer because my preferences changed, I enjoyed using cartotanks for over two years. Great flavor. I used 2.0 - 3.0 ohm prepunched cartomizers.

Baditude's Cartotank Setup Guide

IBTanked Pyrex Cartotanks - A Review

I'll also recommend that you stay with normal resistance coils in your atomizer devices, say 2.0 - 3.0 ohm for that cooler vape.

I will certainly look into those suggestions...gives me hope that there is something better out there then what i am using...i just can't do lung hits that is for sure:cry:

I resisted moving to RBA's for a Long Time. I was Perfectly Happy to use Clearos (XL CE2's). And I bought a Boat Load of them before they were Discontinued.

When I did get an RBA, a Kraken, I thought it was so Cool to make a coil and to put everything together. Then I took the first hit. Whoa... WTH? It was Very Harsh.

I tried Vaping thru it to see if it got better. Nope. Tried Countless Combination of Coil Ohms using the Spool of Kanthal A-1 wire I had. Nothing Worked. Changed e-Liquids. Bought Different RBA's. Drilled Out Air Holes - Covered Air Holes with Tape. Just about Wore Out the UP/Down on my APV's. Tried the Hot New wick at the Time - Cotton. All Epic Fails. So it All went back into the bottom Drawer in my desk. The Drawer for e-Cigarette stuff that Didn't Work.

Fast Forward to the Release of the Kanger Subtank. Everyone was Raving about it. This had to work. So I got a Subtank Mini. Same Song and Dance. Harsh Hits. What was going on?

I was about to Chuck the Subtank in the Drawer when something Dawned on me. Could it be the Kanthal? I remember seeing threads about NiChrome vs Kanthal, but I never read them. So I started searching and Reading.

Most people said there was No Difference between Kanthal and NiChrome. But a Few said that NiChrome was "Smoother". And I know that NiChrome was the 1st Type of wire used in Atty's, Cartos and later Clearos. What did I have to Loose? So I got a Spool of NiChrome 80.

Made a Coil. Popped it in the Subtank RBA. Dry Burned it. Stuffed it with Cotton. Saturated the Cotton. And filled up the Tank. After a Minute or so I took a Hit.

    Holy Flinkering Snit!

It Wasn't Harsh. It Wasn't Harsh at All. And the Flavor was Great. I Boosted the Watts and the Vapor was Massive. But the Flavor was still there. Turned the Watts Down. Outstanding Flavor, just less Vapor. I kept taking Hit After Hit After Hit waiting for it to get Harsh. But it Didn't.

I dug out My Kraken and Other RBA's and set them Up with NiChrome. The Weren't Harsh Either.

So what I'm trying to say by this Long (and Probably Boring) Post is If you are Not getting the hit you want on your RBA's/RBA's/RTA's using Kanthal A-1, and you have Tried Everything, try using NiChrome 80.

The Taste was/is Night and Day to Me.

SO glad you got something working.
that MVP is a great little device. If you have further trouble, or want to change the kind of vape you're getting (cooler, warmer, more vapor, still "burning") - you can try reading about other "tops" for it. Some tanks wick better, some are easier to fill, etc.

The fact that you can turn that MVP up or down, and it's a pretty well-reviewed reliable device, makes it a good purchase.

Now you get to explore all the different juices and find flavors you like!
    :D
    Best of luck!

I just thought the more advance models offered better flavor and smoother vaping and that the guys doing big clouds was just due to their preference in technique..i wasn't aware that one had to hit it hard and fast in order to use these more advanced models...darn.

more advanced models do offer better flavour; but a fixed voltage power source is not an advanced source; that was the mistake you made. It was too hot and you couldn't turn it down.

    1. Walk into a B&m - Buy what they tell you is right, pay high street prices
    2. Research yourself online - Make an educated choice and pay Internet prices.

It would be Nice if this was Always true. Unfortunately it Isn't.

This is a Good Example ...

I have been vaping all day with this at around 3.8-3.9v and can not get over how much better my liquid taste. Interesting because i can actually draw on it a couple times and inhale to my lungs and blow out some pretty cool clouds and my lungs don't bother me at all. The thing i love the most is that i can still get good flavor and a fulfilling smoke hit without feeling like i am scorching my lungs. Only thing i don't like is the box style given it is easy to knock over and shatter the tank.

Why does it show 0.0w on the display for watts?..it shows volts but the watts display as zero and was wondering at what wattage i am vaping at or how to know? when i hold down the top button it shows i can scroll from 6 to 30 watts and is currently set at 6...but why doesn't it show that on the normal display instead of 0.0w
