Since the water bath is hot tap water, the bottle is sealed, and it is not a prolonged process in sunlight, your heating coil does more to degrade the nicotine or oxidize it than the hot tap water bath could.

Well, i heat my water in the microwave, so its pretty hot. So i guess ill continue adding my NIC after the HWB step. Thanks

I am an avid advocate of hot water baths for steeping juice. I use a mini crock pot I bought at a thrift store for like $2.50. It heats to 125°F and stays there. I leave the bottles in the bath a minimum of three hours and have found (against testing unheated bottles of the same recipe) it shaves two weeks of time off the steeping process. As I vape alot of tobaccos its a major plus. I know people swear by ultrasonic for steeping but really... the crock pot just works.

I used to do the whole heat a mug of water in the nuker and wait till it cools, but it didnt so much. I really think that consiatant heat over a short but prolonged period of time after mixing makes all the difference. All my juices are 80%vg/20% everything else.

A few notes. I havent tested nic concentrations after heating but Hoosier is right. The atty does that on its own. You could buy a nic testing kit ans find out. Personally, I dont mind even if it does. Less nic in my bosy isnt a bad thing. The benefit of the steeping process is more important to me feom a heating standpoint. Better quality, and more mature juice in a shorter time. I have tried heating both before and after adding nic and didnt notice any difference in apparent quality. I always shake every half hour or so while in the water bath and then once a day for a week.

For those of you who use the Hot water bath method after mixing, do you add your NIC before or after that step. My understanding is the heat may degrade the Nic. Ive been mixing, HWB, let cool to room temp then adding my NIC. Just curious as to what others are doing.

Dennis

the nicotine helps the steeping process.

do you notice any different with putting the nic in your mix before steeping and after?? maybe in flavor even? and im talking about concentrated flavors not the nic flavor. maybe you should experiment with this..

try making 2 bottles of your DIY mix..

1- with your nic base added before the steep

2- and another without and see if theres an actual difference..

another thing you have to remember is that you get used to your nicotine mg.. after vaping all day.. so it doesnt hit as hard as it hits you in the morning after you wake up versus getting home from a long day and ripping your vivi nova. I notice RBA's kill my throat when i vape PG juices in them.. ouch :facepalm:i know i know.. airhole placement.. wick.. blah blah.. lol it doesnt matter where i put it .. it still destroys my throat.. lol

wow... off topic there.. sorry

anyways yea.. maybe you should try that experiment and see if thats right.. or maybe double check your measurements.. dont use drops... measure with a syringe.
