Got a link? Was it in early firmware forum & I missed it?

This is not the post I was thinking of, but mentions a power consumption issue correction and was one I found doing a quick skim back over the forums.
If anyone received their device with a recently programmed board and a dead battery then my theory is wrong.
My hotcig board was programmed june 25, and they obviously did nothing but install it in the mod and ship it out.

A safe range for cheap lipos is 1C. For a 900mah thats .9 amps. 1 amp is fine and will charge in one third the time evolv usb charge will.
Ah that's good to hear. I did however purchase a different LiPo charger as the packaged charger doesn't look so great. mod is still a few states away so hopefully it will be here soon. Plus, thanks @dwcraig1 for the thermal stats and will input them in once it's here. So for now setting up eScribe as much as I can.

I don't know. Correct me if I'm wrong. But I did some reading on LiPo and spoke with several RC model helicopter enthusiasts. They all agree on 2C charging is safe. I've been charging mine with 2C (2A per cell, 6A total). It only takes 30 minutes and the battery remains cold. IMHO

One thing to note is you cannot charge via USB. You'll need a lipo balance charger. (I wouldn't trust the one hot cig includes).
Not so.
The hotcig dna200 charges its batteries just fine with usb. A 3s lipo charger is build into all dna200 boards.
The external lipo balance charger is just an additional item included with the mod that will only be convenient when we have spare external batteries.
I guess you statement is true if you are writing about the spare batteries. Those don't have a usb plug. You will need to charge them by attaching them to your mod and using usb or an external lipo balance charger.

Yes, I was replying to the guy that asked if you could charge the spare batteries via USB.

Of course you can charge it while its plugged into the mod.

The balance charger they include isn't very good (take it apart and you'll see what I mean), I personally wouldn't use it, but if you're confident in it, that's your call.

I bought HotCig DNA200 specifically for the reason of having detachable battery. Because, let's face it: It is not the best of the bunch, esthetically, ergonomically and battery capacity wise. USB 1A charging takes too dam long. Included, "Balance" charger looks like it had just come out of Fisher-Price production line. I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. That's why I've invested in SkyRC iMAX B6AC V2 balance charger. Where at 2C, it takes only 30 minutes to charge. Or if you want to play it safe, then at 1C, it takes one hour.
