While you're at it, push the top cap up on the tubing and straighten it out. My OCD thanks you. :p

+1 I just want to reach into the picture and pull it up.

rjtoole, all three of my reos have similar markings but mine aren't gouges just surface mar. I consider it patina. If you run your fingernail over it does it catch or is it just on the surface?

If I run my fingernail over it, yes it does catch.

When I unpacked my REO, it had a couple of those scratches/gouges on the inside of the door. When I looked closely at it, I could tell it was from the magnets, or glue around the magnets. After using the REO for a couple weeks, that has all but disappeared. What I am saying is that with use, those will probably disappear, but if they bother you, send the mod back to Rob, and he will fix you right up. I personally did not think anything about it, knowing it was because it was new. As you use the REO, the color on the inside of the door changes, and the marks disappear.

Thank you for the information it does set my mind at ease. I just worried a bit seeing as it was a big purchase. I just wanted everything to be perfect. High expectations. I am good now. Thanks again.

I feel you man. I've scratched an expensive mod the same week I got it and I personally couldn't think about anything other than the scratch when I held that mod. It tore the satisfaction of finally owning it right away from me within days of receiving it. But I've been using PVs for a while and now I recognize what a scratch means. A scratch is just a decal or a stencil on a military tank when it comes to a good strong PV. They will pick up faults as you use them. It remains a microcosm of the lessons of imperfection in life.

But one thing about that mod I scratched, was the manufacturer had horrible customer service... & they still do. I've e-mailed them 3 separate times asking about paying to get the bottom tube replaced or repainted, saying I'd pay to have it done. Not once did they e-mail me back. Not once. Not even to tell me that they do not do that type of thing and that they understand what its like to scratch a mod. Not once did they email me back. I know Rob will respond. But yeah man, whether you send it back or not is up to you, it is brand new. But a mod will gather imperfections, its the way of owning and continuously using a good mod.

Ha! That happened to me, too about 6 weeks or so in. Dropped the door on the floor, and it must've hit just right to pop it out. Never could find it. Got a replacement and never had a problem since. I still have some backup magnets just in case.

Read this entire thread on how to replace a door magnet so you make sure to get it right. Also, check the hole for left over crusty glue and clean that out before replacing the magnet.

I dropped my black wrinkle mini 2.1 about 30 minutes after I got it when I forgot it was in my lap as I was getting out of my jeep in a very old, very unkept parking lot. Never knew REO's could actually bounce, but it did. Covered the evidence of my gravity test with a black sharpie. It is now my designated jeep mod, and it's been through hell.

Fires every time without fail. These things are tanks.
