I have to be in exactly the right mood to listen to straight black metal. I prefer Ihsahn's progressive take on that genre. This is still pretty good, though

Blues are the root of all riff-based metal (forgive the sweeping statement, but it's pretty much true). Robert Johnson was a master!
I know it's just that there are not many people even my age anymore that have ever listened to delta blues. He only recorded like 30 songs in two years, so there are a lot of people who never even heard of him. They will tell you Crossroads Blues is an old Clapton song. The movie by that name was great too.
Clapton popularized the song, sure. Covers were an old concept, even back then. Steve Vai ROCKED the Paganini in that movie!
I heard he would never play "Eugene's Trick Bag" live because it was just to complicated.
