How can I even further improve my experience?

Hey!

I've started vaping two days ago and I love it. However, I'm already looking for ways to improve it even more, so I'm asking you what I should do.

I bought an iStick pico and overall I'm pretty happy with it.

I vape directly to lung (DTL?).

I'm looking for an atomizer?, tank? (I'm not too familiar with what is what yet, sorry) that benefits my way of vaping. Also I'd like to get more suitable coils.

Thanks in advance, appreciate it!

If you like DTL vaping, I suggest a Smok Alien dual 18650 mod kit (that comes with the baby beast tank and spare coils) It's a big step up, and you will enjoy the experience. The baby beast puts out great flavor and lots of clouds, and that mod has a great hand-feel, and plenty of power for upgrades (like if you ever decide to buy an RDA and install/build your own coils)

What delivery device / ‘tank’ are you currently using?
The 'kit' comes with the melo3 mini.
What is it you want to improve? / what do feel is lacking?

I’d suggest experimenting with PG/VG ratio as a first step considering you're using 70pg/30vg now.
More % VG = fuller feeling vape, more cloudz.
Then try different resistance replacement heads to see which you like best.
No reason to buy a buncha new stuff just yet.

The Pico is a very good feature rich power device, take some time to get familiar with its capabilities. Read the user/instruction manual.

There are literally dozens of delivery devices/ 'tanks' that will work well on the Pico.

I suggest starting with the very basics, like PG/VG ratio, learning your power device, experimenting with resistance, maybe temp control.

There is no such thing as " good, better & best " or " this way is better than that way", everything in vaping is a matter of personal preferences, each individual finds through experimenting & experience what works best for them.

I don't have any complains so far, to be frank. I was just wondering whether there is like a must have for my way of vaping.

I would like for the smoke to be, well, a bit more smooth (if that makes sense), right now it's a little bit dry.

What is a resistance replacement head, the coil?

A replacement head is the coil in the bottom of the tank that needs to be periodically replaced after extended use. The coil is also extremely important to the type of vape you get, DL or mtl. The tank also determines the type of vape as it controls your airflow, juice flow to the coil, and the chamber/chimney through which the vapor will pass, as well as the types of coils it is compatible with. The mods is not nearly as important as it's simply supplying power to the coil. So long as it can supply sufficient power, you needn't worry.

PG/VG ratio.
70% pg is fairly high, some folks feel PG is harsh, try 50/50 or 30pg/70vg.
VG is smoother, more dense, produces moar cloudz.
Using too high a power setting can cause dry/scratchy,,, as can too high nic mg/ml.

Be sure to thoroughly prime new/unused replacement heads & start off at a lower power setting to prevent scorching/burning the wicking material.

Also be sure you're using a quality name brand battery with a sufficient CDR (amp rate) to safely power your Pico.

You just started vaping, right? There are a few things that will effect the type of vape you get. First, the juice. The more nic and the more PG (juices are made in different ratios of PG:VG along with the nic and flavorings) the more "throat hit". Second big one is the coil you use. Third the tank. And fourth, the mod you're running on, although this may become a bit more important if you get into some more fancy mods setting like temp control.

The other thing that can effect your vape is how you set your stuff up. On a new coil (replacement head) it's important to prime the coil with juice and let it sit in the full tank for a while. This is necessary to make sure the cotton is well saturated. Otherwise, you're more prone to burnt dry hit type stuff.

What juice are you using and how much did you smoke?

Edit: ;) what @Topwater Elvis just said less than a minute before me.

Pretty much as Elvis and Eskie stated above. If you're not looking for a new shiny, it's best to tinker with your mod and pg/vg juice ratios, as well as replacement coil heads. If you're getting dry/scratchy hits, adjusting your wattage slightly, or even your e-liquid, can result in a completely different experience.

Apologies, I read that as looking to upgrade. :)

And yet another has found the entrance to "the rabbit hole!" It's getting crowded down here. :D But it is entirely up to you. Do you enter? Ease in? Or jump head first? But seriously.......

Playing with what you have, as mentioned above, is your cheapest and easiest place to start. Decrease nic level (don't think you have even provided that info), increase VG%, adjust watts, etc. Do you have, and only tried one juice? If so, get at least one different juice with different make-up. You should be able to get "a smoother vape" with some or a combination of those adjustments.

I don't have any complains so far, to be frank. I was just wondering whether there is like a must have for my way of vaping.

That is a tough one! I would just say that if you have only been vaping for two days, you may not have settled on your "way of vaping." Even a group of experienced vapor may not agree on "a must have."

You didn't mention if you are quitting the cigs, but if you are, a back-up set-up is worth considering. If so, I would just suggest something/anything different then your current set-up. Vape whichever you like best and the other for back-up. At the least, two tanks with different flavors is good for quick flavor changes. That should at least let you know if you are heading in the right direction or have taken a wrong turn.

Good luck! There are tons of choices.

When i am filling really needy i fill up my Halloween fog machine with my fav liquid. Thank GOodness i DIY that thing goes through a lot. But boy can i blow clouds!!!

Just Kidding. Preference and what works is all subjective. If it were me i would start with going higher on VG ratio something like 70/30 to start off and work up if need be to 80/20 90/10 until find sweet spot. Once you get a good juice if you are still not satisfied then perhaps look at a better Tank....Since you are new you may not want to start building your own coils, maybe you do and would prefer a RTA....

I definitely agree with the comments above...about trying adjustments to your eliquid (PG/VG ratio and maybe even your nic level) to see if you can get a "smoother" vape. My niece had the same problem a few years ago, when she tried vaping with a set-up and eliquid a vape shop sold her. She said it was "harsh" when she tried vaping with it, so she just quit trying vaping. (By the way, she'd asked the vape shop people about it and they just said she'd "get used to it, like many smokers need to at first"). I didn't know she'd even tried vaping, nor anything about her problem, or I'd have helped her then.

Then, just this Thanksgiving she mentioned it...so I checked out her set-up and it seemed fine for a new vaper. However, IMO her eliquid wasn't right for her at all. I made some new eliquid for her (with different PG/VG ratio & nic level) and sent it to her. She said it was wonderful and very smooth...no harshness at all. She's now having no problem with vaping while she's tapering off the smokes, with her goal being quitting them totally.

So making/trying small changes first, is IMO the way to go, as suggested by others above. It might be something very simple that can make a total difference in your enjoyment of vaping.

Has
Subtank minis for less than 10 bucks right now. Each Subtank mini comes with an RBA deck if you ever want to build your own coils (down the road of course).....
Each also comes with two coils. Considering a .5 ohm coil costs around 4 bucks at a vape shop, you're literally getting the entire tank and RBA for 2 bucks! !!!
I just bought 5.
I use the Subtank on my own pico.... I'm very happy with the setup I have.
