that pcb with mini usb from sparkfun its gonna come to almost 20 bucks. at this point id order a bartleby.
im waiting on some mini-usb-female-5pin to come from china then i'll try to work on something 1/2 decent...
i screwed up my blue-mod but if i had the switch a lil closer to the top it'd fit ok...

The stuff from sparkfun is a little pricey, but the point to me is to build something and if I buy a bartleby I'm not going to get the time working with my hands in. Also, I have limited skills so far and would be a LOT more comfortable just incorporating a prebuilt board into my mod while still getting to solder, etc. and learning a little along the way.

To quote the specification sheet of the chip
"The MAX1551/MAX1555 charge a single-cell lithium-ion
(Li+) battery from both USB* and AC adapter sources.
They operate with no external FETs or diodes, and
accept operating input voltages up to 7V."

Though single cell can be taken as one 3.7V unit as long as the batteries in the cell are the same. Meaning you can use this on parallel batteries with higher capacities just not series batteries. I stumbled across this part whilst searching for a boost converter to charge 9V Li+ via usb. Technically all you need is the chip, a couple smd caps, and a usb female, but the board is a drop in.

can you guys please tell me the difference between this, this and the pricey one sparkfun has?

The 1st this comes out of China, it's cheap & it's going to take a while to get here. The second this is the stock 510 charger. They are trying to see if it will do what the pricey one sparkfun has does.:) Hope that helped you, I wrote it & I'm not sure about it...
