How can I tell when my wick's about to run dry?

Hello folks,

I've been vaping for almost a year now and just recently decided to join the forum. I have recently began using my Omega RDA. My current build is simple: .8 ohm, dual micro 28g coil. It vapes better than anything else I have used before and I love it. I use my 0-nicotine juices for this one, since I can't really take the lung hit at this resistance. One problem with this is that my juice is completely transparent, so when I soak my wick with it, I later can't tell how much is left.

So I'm enjoying myself, making clouds, when suddenly "GACK!!" Awful taste, throat is burning, etc. Pull my atty apart and notice slightly burnt cotton around the coils. No problem, just re-wicked.

Question is, how can I prevent this from happening again? Any tips? Thanks.

it all depends on how efficient your coil is and how it's wicked. there's no absolute way to tell. Sometimes, you can burn through juice one hit per fill, sometimes it can last a few hits. For some, dripping is the preferred method, but it requires you to.. as you guessed, constantly drip to replenish the wicks. I usually keep a close eye on a new dripper build. I'll saturate the wick and keep checking the taste and physically look at the wick... when it is starting to run dry, I count the drops needed to re-saturate it. then keep a mental note of how many hits it takes to dry it, and how many drops to re-saturate it. with time, it becomes second nature.

That being said, I don't drip all the time. for the All day vape, I use a tank system, but every once in a while I drip.

If nothing else just lift the cap up. The Cotten (if you use Cotten will look like this.

It will look very dry.

As far as doing it without lifting the cap, I begin to notice a loss of flavour and... Wetness if that makes sense. It's something you kind of just learn over time. But when in doubt just drip :)
