How common are thermal runaways/ battery venting?

You could always use a vape Safe Fuse, making your IMR high drain battery "protected".
I just finished reading your Deeper Understanding of mod batteries, re Vape Safe you say: "If you are using a mechanical mod and you can fit one with your battery, I would suggest you add one or two to your setup". Do you mean two fuses are better than one?

You are correct, I adapted that blog article from another writer. The idea of the original author was to have a couple of vape safe fuses on hand in case one should blow or to have one for each PV that you own. As AttyPops said, there are two models to choose from: a less expensive one time fuse and a more expensive multiple use (self-resetting) fuse.
