But to be honest, can it be worse that the analogs we used to smoke. I've been exposed to asbestos, nitrogen atmosphers and a lot of other things when I worked at a factory. I can understand the caution, but think about it. One small bad thing compared to 4,000?. sorry to be a party pooper on this. If your concerned then don't use it. I will admit that the vendors I use don't use it to my knowledge, but can you honestly trust any of them. And don't let the FDA get hold of it. Heck look at all the things they approved for humans and then had to recall. :2c:

Please do not take this as a personal attack.... because to each there own, yeah? But, to me it is a very serious issue. I have asthma. My asthma is SO much better since I started vaping. I use to have 5-10 life threatening attack a day vs. the 1 mild one a week I have now. If I know there is a chemical known to cause issues I will NOT use it. Not being about to breath is the most horrible thing to me. I have been there... and this chemical causes damages that CANNOT be undone. I would say that is pretty dam serious. Especially to people like me. :(

something else to consider is how much flavoring it takes to make a liquid. is the flavoring 5% or 25%? the later would certainly have 5 times the risk of trace amounts. i think i'll see about removing my first post in this thread. little too positive. even though i havent changed my mind about anything i wouldnt want to influence anyone.

This is a very old subject and still there is no information as too how much is "safe" to vape. Another problem besides vendors not necessarily knowing whats in the flavorings they purchase even if the third party states diacetyl is absent, is that diacetyl substitutes are of concern, even more so that there are not being addressed. There may be other flavoring chemicals besides those ketones that my be harmful in various ways. ALL Im saying, yet again, is no one has the answers to the questions.

Wow scary stuff. This is the first Ive heard of diacetyl so I just want to get this straight, its ONLY in juices that have buttery, custardy, ice cramy flavors? Fruit, Tobacco and Menthol juices have NO issues with diacetyl?

Not necessarily, its hard to tell. But yes, those are the "major" ones. Id guess most (but not all) use diacetyl substitutes. I wish someone knew the answer, I want to know more too!

i think the odds go up with heavily flavored liquids. dont think they would go down. i'm assuming recipes that are 25% flavor have several ingredients.

Each flavor is made up of many many chemicals which dont get listed on the ingredients list of pg, vg, nic, flavoring. Listing "flavoring" as a single ingredient is just not accurate.

It causes permanent irreversible damage to your lungs in any amount. Even Diacetyl substitutes have been found to have trace amounts. I don't vape anything with a butter, ice cream, or custard flavor, and even at that I'm still a bit uncomfortable.

If you watch this episode of vapelink they get well into the details of the dangers.

That's a Vapeteam episode. Not Vapelink.

Please please PLEASE tell me my Mount Baker Vapor butterscotch is safe to vape. It's the only juice I really, truly love and cannot go without. I always have a supply, or an order on the way...

EDIT: Not only that, I get three house-made extra shots, AND I bought butterscotch flavoring from them. I spike my bottles with no less than seven shots. My gad. Now ya'll've got me scared as blank.

Yeah as a matter of fact does anyone no of any vendors that have stated that their juices are in fact diacetyl free? Lets get a list going! If some of you have already asked certain vendors I'd like to know which ones they are. Hopefully they are the ones I already order from. I know I'm going to start asking now that I know about this stuff.
