How did this ruin my battery?

I have MNKE 26650s and regularly use them in a quad coil 0.2 ohm build.
Today while cleaning I came across my old Blu cig-a-likes and discovered that the coil "tanks" on them were 510 connections. I threw one on my ohm reader and it came out to 3.1 ohms.
I found it amusing in my head that it would fit on my 26650 mod and thought it would make for a funny picture.
It did.
However when I took a hit (as horrible as I remembered it to be) it wouldn't fire a second time. I put my RDA back on and got absolutely no hit.
My initial thought was that screwing on the Blu "tank" must have messed up my 510 connection, but after minutes of messing with it, I found that my other batteries were fine and that my mod was ok.
I put that 26650 in my Efest LUC V4 and it's reading 0.0 volts. Every 5 seconds a few bars of battery life will flash on the screen, but not a voltage reading.

So..
How the hell did a 3.1 ohm "tank" screw up my battery??

nope, fired it maybe a total of 3 times. And yeah, I checked the ohm reading on it before even trying to fire it, came out to 3.1 which is why I'm entirely amazed that it somehow broke my battery.
Could the Blu negative and positive connection be reversed from a standard 510 connection device? Damn you, Lorillard! haha

Even if the polarity is reversed in the Blu carto, it wouldn't matter to the battery.

Here's what I would do if I could. Unscrew the top cap from your mod, screw the carto onto it and check the resistance from the battery side. If you find a short you have the issue.

That's the only thing I can think of and it doesn't really wash with me, but it's all I've got.

If you do it, please post the result :)

its always a good idea to check the depth of the positive pin's before screwing together and presuming all is going to be okay on your mech.
if you use a Hybrid connection on top your mod you need to be extra careful that the positive pin of the dripper etc protrudes enough that the outer sleeve(negative)of the dripper isnt level causing a short.
some pins are floating so its worth checking by pushing on them before installing/screwing it down onto you mod to see if they move, if they do move then the chances are you will short and kill your battery in seconds

Unfortunately I only have a 510 connection ohm meter, so I wouldn't have a way to check its resistance once it is screwed onto the mod.

Can the LUC V4 fix my battery (if it was a short)? I'm nervous leaving it on the charger for long, but it has never gotten hot.

Once one of these batteries gets to 0.0 volts, even if your charger would charge it, it is IMO damaged beyond what I consider safe to vape anymore. The chemical in the battery changes in a way that makes it possible for the battery to have an internal short without warning. That will cause it to vent in the worst way I know of.

if the center pin on the blu isn't sticking out a bit there's the greater risk of a short.

that's the trouble with the 510 interface; positive and negative are just a hairline apart,

i'm thinking the battery was already low, like 3 volts, then a short caused it to drop below the cutoff threshold (2.6?)

Good enough for me not to risk that battery just to spare $10 dollars. Thank you! It's going in the trash now.
