I'm a long time lurker here, finally decided to post :)
Just curious how did everyone hear about e cigs?
I first heard about them from my dental hygienist. I told her I was trying to quit smoking but nothing seemed to work, she said her husband quit by using an e cig, I didn't think to much about it until a few days later I saw a commercial for one of those scams (try for free, blah blah blah) but I could see how they really worked. So I got online and read everything I could, then found this forum. I knew right off I wanted a 2 piece design (drive to much to be dripping) and I didn't want one that looked like an analog. So now I have a kr808's stainless steel with blue and green LEDs. And haven't had an analog since mid January. Woohoo

My mother has been trying to get my brother to quit, so she bought him a SmokeStik. She brought it to Vegas with her to let my sister and I try it out while on vacation. I hated the taste, and didn't know how to inhale it without choking, but liked the idea... then started a new job when I got back and my boss was vaping a blu cig in his office while I was going outside to smoke, thought it might be a good idea to jump on the band wagon and do as the boss did, so I bought a blu as well. I've since upgraded to a KR808-D1 (Vapor4Life) and have been tobacco free for 11 days. I agree, atxcass - no looking back!

In the summer of 2009, we brought in a temp to help out on a couple of projects at work. One day we saw him pull out an e-cig and start puffing. Since almost everyone in my department was a smoker, we were all kinda curious about it.

I now understand that the guy really didn't know jack about e-cigs, (he spewed a ton of misinformation), but the demonstration was enough to get one of my co-workers to do his own research and take up vaping himself.

About 9 months later, we all followed his lead. :)

I had heard about e-cigs, but thought nothing of them, yet another non-smoking gimmick was what I assumed.

Ws not interested enough to even look information up on it.

Then one day my manager ( who does not smoke ) sent me an advertisement for an e-cigarette, This was after yet another attempt of mine to quit smoking.

So I started doing the worst kind of research, the easiest to find e-cig sites are the re-branders sites.

Ordered a kit and signed onto their forums, started chatting with them, and one of them pointed me to this forum.

Then I came here.... read for about 2 hours... canceled my order and re-ordered ( for less money ) a better kit.

this forum saved me a lot of money, and what was probably going to be a more negative experience.

I quit smoking a week and a half after my kit arrived and am a happy camper today!

Welcome to the ECF. Last August my friend (Aric-big props) and I were playing a round of disc golf...At the tee box of hole 3 (our customary cig break hole) I lit up an analog and he pulled out what I thought was a pen. I asked "what the H*#l is that thing?" He went into this deluge of what it was and how it worked, and then let me try it. I was amazed to say the least. I had tried gum, patches, cold turkey, even Chantix...nothing had worked, but this intrigued me. On January 3rd I got my KR-808 V4L kit, and that was my last day hooked on analogs. I know own a joye eGo and am looking to upgrade again this summer (a reo mod I hope :) ) It has changed my life.

I heard about them a couple years ago on Dr. Dean Edell's radio show. They weren't available in the US then but, someone was asking about them. A few weeks ago my sister in-law showed up with one of those crappy kits from a smoke shop. I went out and bought one. It SUCKED!!! However, it got me interested enough to find this place. Since then, I've bought an eGo kit and Saturday I ordered a Riva 510 kit for my sister in-law. Much happier.

Back in 2009 I heard a radio ad for Blu-Got online and stumbled onto the Vlocano website and ordered a disposable to try. Then found ECF and was led to Arno at Awesome Vapor for a 510. Loved it. Over time I moved up to an Ego and finally a year ago I bit the bullet and got a 5v GLV. Have been happy with my GLV for over a year now-use nothing else. Now that I am not tempted to by the latest and greatest new PV every month and all buy is Juice and cartos-I am saving a ton of money. Haven't had a analog for close to 2 years!

I saw them at 7-11, but the place was really busy so I didn't get a change to figure out what I was looking at (just sort of staring from the back of the line). I thought to myself "self, if those are fake cigarettes.. and if they have nicotine in them... and if they actually work as well as a cigarette..... hmmmm..."

So I googled them and ended up here.

Saw an ad on one of those news channel web pages - u know - SHOCKING FACTS about.... Read the ad, went forth and searched to find out more..
ditto here too. Started hitting the web hard looking for the cheapest e cig passed over this forums links time and time again. Thinking it was for a brand named e cigarette and selling of a single product line. Trying to avoid that the scam e cigs out there....
I finely gave in and took a peak in here . GLAD I DID. First I hit the vendors thread altsmoke was the first to respond to my phone calls. When I told them I wanted an ego they said I had done my homework. After answering some e cig questions on the phone I ordered from them. 3 day later I had my kit then joined ECF to ask more questions newbes ask, like how much ejuice can fit in a catro. I have learned alot here, moved on to ce2's, moving on to DIY, and dream in VV every night. Meeting the kindest ppl have been the best thing about this new hobby and ECF. THANK YOU EVERYONE you saved my life!
