How did you end up with your collection?

I can understand the natural progression from Ego, to Ego Twist, to a VV/VW, and then to a mechanical, and the same progression for tanks and atomizers.

I personally started with an ego battery and upgraded to a twist for better battery life. I then got a Vamo because a dead Ego Twist still meant I was without my top mod. When my Vamo broke, I got a Provari. And just today I ended up with a Smoktech SS Telescope so I could fiddle with my drippers without my Provari fussing about the ohm rating.

But now, I frequent the forums and blogs, and wonder how some people end up with so many mods. Are you guys just collecting at this point?

How deep does this rabbit hole go?

I started collecting because I love the machine work of mechanicals and hybrids. I'm decollecting at this point. Thinning the herd, more for financials reasons than anything else. Well, that and realizing I can only vape one at a time. Actually, that isn't true but my wife said I looked like an idiot with three going at once.

I've only been at this a month. Started with two ego's and now a Vamo V3 and PT2. This is all I need, works just fine. Although if the Vamo stops working at some point, I want to save up for the Itaste 134, the one that looks like a gatling gun.

This is sort of turning into a small hobby and is keeping me from stinkies. But my second goal besides no stinkies is being able to save up for my main hobby, guns, archery and hunting. So I don't see myself going crazy with a bunch of equipment.

I have only been at this for a little over a month.

I walked into a B&M and said "Help me quit smoking".

They set me up with a basic, but good kit. e-Go Twist, charger, Mini BCC, and a e-juice.
A week later I went in and bought a 2nd battery.
A week later I was craving more vapor, more taste. I walked into another B&M and they suggested a carto tank set up. It was cheap, so I went with it, plus a beauty ring so it looked ok on my Twist. I loved the new experience.

Since then, I poured over these forums and learned what I could about cartos and made some adjustments to which replacement cartos to use. I also changed to lower Ohm replacement atomizers in my BCC.

In the last week I bought 3 more of those carto tanks.
I have been reading about how some prefer single coil cartos over dual coils and have placed orders for 3 different branded single coil cartos (I have been using Boge dual coils, with the 3mm laser cut hole) They haven't arrived yet.

I really do not plan to upgrade much more than what I have already. Oh, I may buy some good pyrex carto tanks, but I can buy 3 cheap plastic for the price of one Pyrex tank. (yeah I am cheap)

While other VV look cool, I don't feel the need or desire to get any of them. I like the way the Twist looks. I like the this form factor.
Maybe when one of my Twists die, I will get a cooler thin VV battery with a lcd panel showing me how much power is left in it. That is pretty cool.

So, my collection now is
2 e-Go Twists
1 Mini BCC
4 Thin XL no name plastic Carto Tanks
A large e-Go carry case
A small converted cigarette case to hold my carto tanks (have an order in for a better alternative)
A buttload of e-Liquids

And, shhhhhhhhhh, one day,

I plan to quit vaping too.

I tried an expensive cigalike several years ago and wasn't happy with it. Then I got an Ego twist 1000mah kit and loved it .....then I bought a bunch more, backups for my backups and hoping to lure my hubby. From there I got curious about the Vamo and ordered a Vamo V3 from FastTech and love it and now I have another one waiting for me at the post office in case something happens to the first one. I still use the twists for out and about.

I got a Kanger T2 (long wick), MT3, Viva Nova, Stardust V3 and a Vapeonly 3.5 BCC Tank in my kit. I thought the Viva Nova was fantastic at first, but my all time favorite is the Kanger T2, with the Vapeonly BCC coming in second. I have a drawer full of the T2's and several Vapeonly BCC's. That's it for now, I have no plans to purchase anything else in the near future. I have even narrowed down my juices to a few favorites. :)

Started with disposable e-cigs, bought about 3 of them. then bought the blu pack. I got tired of it real fast. then I was given a apollo VV, and shortly after bought a Vamo V3, and now I bought a k100-101. throughout said time period I bought plenty of carts and tanks, rba's, etc. I get impulsive about buying things when I want to learn about stuff :x

I never did get into the 'buy the shiny' thingy. Not that I haven't had my moments. I think it helped that I've been an avid photographer for a while. Once I realized that better cameras were not going to help my pictures, my photography really improved. And I'm not really a collector either. Also living in Canada changes the financial picture a bit compared to those in the US.

My progression has been eGo, small VV, LT VV, mechanical tube, mechanical BF. eGo C, CE4, cartos, VVN, RBA, RDA. This year I have spent about $15 a week including juice which I make myself. This cost is not going up any time soon :2cool:

The wife and I started vaping about 4 mos. ago. Started with the little cigarette looking things. I started researching stuff on the net and found out there are much better ways to vape! Started watching PBusardo reviews on youtube and that was the start of an apparent addiction! I now have a Innokin SVD and a MPV, 7 Mods, more tanks, rebuildable attys, drippers, and clearos than I wish to talk about and not to mention a boat load of batterys and chargers. Oh and did I mention I make my own e-juice? I need to build a room addition for all this stuff. And NO I am not RICH!......but hey not smoking is going to pay for all this stuff.....right? Actually we are tickled that we quit smoking cigarettes, and not smoking cigarettes WILL...... eventually......pay for all this stuff. It really has become a hobby that we enjoy very much. :)

Cigalikes excluded I started on SID with vivi novas and iclear 16s. Thought it was too big to bring to work so i got an ego mini 350 mah with 1.7ohm shorty cartos with a tiny ego cone and a really small drip tip, i still use this set up from time to time with a squid rda. A few weeks later i bought and nzonic v3 with a trident. Then bought a reactor rda for the nzonic a few days later. After becoming hooked with drippers and mech mods i decided to diversify my setups still looking for my perfect vape. I hit domo up a month or so later for a gp lux, with ss 650 tube and lux 500 tube (their mailing list rocks). I forgot that i pre-purchased a richman hybrid (that was supposed to come in the mail yesterday but hoping for today) almost a month before so I'm looking forward to messing with a genesis rba other than an agi.

Its been like 3 months since my SID and i have learned a lot thanks to the videos from many members here like bishopheals. Don't know if i have reached my perfect vape but i have some top contenders after accumulating various rbas; am loving .8 ohm dual coil 2mm ekowool setup on an ithaka, also loving dual microcoil silica on trident with 2 open airholes. Reactor on ekowool with ribbon dual coils and modified airhole is also awesome though a bit warmer than i like. Looking to someday try a kayfun or russian 91% and waiting on gp SnP with killer to see how they compare. This new hobby of mine is becoming pricey but i promised myself after my next upcoming purchase i will stop... for a while at least :). It's also nice having multiple mods on hand for when i have company and they can join me in fogging up the living room. No cigs since that SID though and my son no longer coughs around me teasing me to quit tobacco.

Three mods at once? Did you fog up the entire house?

I'm actually considering the prospect of collecting at this point, now owning a piece of every kind of equipment there is to tinker with. I know that those in the business of reviewing the quality of mods in the market take careful consideration into conductivity, performance, and finish in most of the high-end mods out there. Is this something you are able to appreciate/notice, or is it just for the sake of declaring winners and losers on the reviewer's part?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who had a stint of gearlust in my endeavors.

So, as a collector, how are you deciding what mod stays and what mod gets the boot? Aesthetics? Performance?

getting way out of the grid now. started from the eRoll. and that's where my journey in vaping begins.

from eRoll -> eGo -> Vamo - > Pisces-T (Pinoy) mech mod -> Poldiac -> Provari mini -> Orion v2.1 -> Dees (Malaysia) mech mod -> Nemesis VW edition.

for atties, standard atomizer for eRoll -> ce4 -> vivi nova -> protank -> aga-T+ -> aga-T2 -> RSST -> Immortalizer v3 dripper -> Kayfun

I swore I wouldn't engage in this as a gear-head, and I still haven't; however, after time on this forum and Youtube, I've got an itch. I'm trying to see if it's a phase or if I'll cave in. Right now I have the lowest of low gear: two 65mm 808 cig-a-likes with tiny clearos. The batteries are beginning to poop out a little, so I have some decisions to make.

My feelings are mixed. I can afford to collect and go crazy. My tobacco habit was $400 per month. I know. 2 daily cans of chew, 2 weekly packs of cigarettes, and a ton of disposable e-cigs used intermittently. I just don't know what I'm going to enjoy more--watching my checking account actually grow, or collecting toys. It's only been five weeks or so. We'll see what happens. And of course I'll keep the forum posted. :)

Started with a couple of Smok VVs and a Protank 2. Love the fact that I don't smoke but want a more 'pipe-like' experience. Awaiting a eVic, F16 and RSST. Don't see myself getting too much more stuff save, perhaps, a Reo Grand VV.

Just ordered the wife her 'starter kit', a couple of 350mAh batterys and a couple evods. Yea!!!

Hoping to DIY juice, but the wife is afraid that the house will become a m**h lab <chuckles>

Started with a white cloud starter kit...2 KR808s, then bought an ego-type passthrough with a clearo, traded my 2 KR808s for some juice...then a friend sent me 4 ego twists, then a zmax v5 and l-rider lambo along with 2 more ego twists, a couple of AW IMR 18650s, plus a ton of other stuff.

So now I think I have a pretty decent collection of stuff for not too much money spent...Plus I put my twists to good use. Got my mom and my aunt on them, been around 2 weeks now for them :D

I did the progression from Blu to Ego Twist to ProVari. Then a Reo, but found bottomfeeders are not my thing. I do like mech tho, so I bought a Natural to try it out. Then a Silver Bullet. I won an ENV Nepalim in a vapemeet raffle. I really like steampunk mods, and happened to find one at my local vape shop. Then wanted to try a telescoping mod, so I have a K100 on the way.

Anything I get into tends to become a hobby. As with any hobby I want to learn all I can about it. As the learning curve increases with most hobbies I've gotten into the gear changes as a result due to better performance, form factors, ect.... From there stuff just started showing up in the mail and still does.

Excessive? Maybe...but I'm having fun, not breaking my budget and that's all I care about.

This is not a collection... These are tools to help me quit smoking. that is my story and i am sticking with it..
I do have several, but have stuck with the Itaste vv/vw 3.0 for some time now. I have a couple of them and a pro tank and a mini pro tank. This set up seems to fill all of my needs and it works every time. I have not had any leaks or battery issues. I buy a 15 dollar bottle of cinnamon juice every couple weeks and just keep vaping along...
