I came across a video on Youtube for Glam Smoke e-cigarettes. It looked exactly like they were smoking a cigarette and I thought, wow...that looks like the real thing, I am going to look into this and the rest is history.

A good friend of mine drives truck for a living, he bought a Mistic brand at a truckstop. He would tell me about it all the time, how great it was, how it was helping him not smoke, and how it was cheaper. He kept suggesting I should buy one, I kept blowing him off. In Febuary 2012 he stopped in at my shop, and gave me a starter kit, asked me just to try it. Well needless to say I refilled that mistic until this morning when my EGO twists and vivi novas showed up. I've tried analogs since then, and can't stand them. I still find it amazing that I went from a pack and a half a day for 18 years to not being able to stand them in a matter of months, let alone feeling better. Thank you buddy, and thank you ECF.
The guy who sits next to my cubicle at work started vaping and I said I'd do it too if he stuck with it for a month - as he was almost as heavy of a smoker as me. He did and I started and the rest - as they say - is history.
Now, I've made converts out of my wife, her friend, her friend's friend, my brother and 2 of his co-workers.

Oh it was really late at night I want to say about five or six years ago on Coast to Coast AM. There was a comercial and I had never seen one or knew such a thing was around. My thought was why the hell would I want to smoke water vapor? There was also a number for a "free" trial which I didn't call. A few years later I saw one for the first time 
I was walking around town and went into the local head shop to pick up a pack and on the counter were these e-cigs from Cig20 so i asked the sales clerk about them and how they worked. I ended up purchasing one and a few pre-filled cartos to go with it took a few drags from it and wow i couldnt believe it!! that was almost a year ago..... havent turned back since!!
I quit smoking in 2010 with snus. A friend on the snus forum sent me couple batts and cartos to see if I liked vaping. I do and I do it for fun.
I saw them in the mall 4 or so years ago. Thought they were pretty cool! 2.5 years ago I went on vacay with all non smokers and realized what a PITA it was to seek out places to smoke. When I got home I searched the interwebs for ecigs, ordered a V2 starter kit. Haven't smoked a stinkie since 8-22-10! I still cannot believe how far vaping has come since I started. I remember the days of aquarium filter foam mods for cartridges and the invention of LR cartos. Man oh man how much improved things are now!!
Someone tweeted a link to the story about the study on what effect e-cigs have on heart disease. I do not know why, but I thought, "I could do that." I usually see stuff like that as what Other People do. I did some site hopping, found one with a reasonable explanation of how vapourizers worked and bought a kit from them. I was shocked at what an effective substitute vaping is.
Also just realized that a half-filled vivi nova would make an excellent game piece for a board game. Or a plumb bob. I should probably go to bed.

A friend of mine at Capcom got me into vaping and I'm so happy that he did. I wish I discovered this wonderful world earlier!

Found a little info and then asked on a Forum (nothing to do with e cigs) about them
Turned out one of the members had been doing it for 6 months, he gave me lots of advice and pointed me in the direction of a we sellers on the net.
I got my first kit ordered and once it arrived i loved it, and never looked back.
I am now the owner of a Lava Tube and loving it more.
I keep ordering liquid to only find out that I then find better liquid which I like better, so i am going to end up with 100s of mls of liquid that I don't really like..lol
I always order 30ml bottles too as at the time of ordering I think to myself that it will be cheaper.

This guy ^^^^ converted me. We're both members of a Lawn Forum. He started a thread in the Misc part of that forum after he started vaping. I lurked that thread and when I saw his success, I started my own research. Here I am, going on three weeks of non smoking.
While at the indian reservation to buy cigaretts i spotted a Envy Bliss starter kit and jumped all in, spending that months cigg allowence on these plastic cartridges. And I got through the month, but the next month I went back to the analog smokes, knowing that with time the electronic cig would surely improve before I could commit whole hartedly ,some time later a TV add reminds me of electronic cigs and its ON!! Vaping ..What? ..OMG the internet is full of this society I never heard of, people who enjoy nicotine cleanly , safely , cheaply, Im one of these... a "Vapor"
Very similar story as mine. I have heard of e-cigs before, and even tried a disposable one a few months back, but that one didn't help me see the light at all.
Then i stumbled upon a thread on a bass guitar forum made by ecf member James Hart, and spending time reading through that thread made me curious about trying something better than that disposable.
Ordered a kit with a couple of eGo twists, and have not looked back since.
My sister came to visit me last December, and the first thing she asked when she got in my car is if she could vape. (Not sure if she called it that at the time.) I told her of course, and I think I managed a whole couple of days before I broke down and asked her if I could try it. Within hours, I was on the internet placing an order for myself and a day later, for my nonsmoking girlfriend.
In 2008, I saw a smoking everywhere booth in a mall. After a bit of deliberation and some unfruitful research on the internet, I wasted almost $200 on a single 510 battery, a 306 atomizer, and some cartridges. It lasted all of 3 or 4 hours of bad flavor, no vapor, and charging the battery every 20 minutes or so, with me still smoking cigarettes the whole time. At the time, I was glad that I didn't drop the money on the just-released Provari (or was it the Provape-1……whatever, Provape was the only e-cig website I could find that didn't scream scam) because I assumed it didn't perform any better……just lasted longer.
I decided that e-cigs were for people who weren't really addicted to cigarettes and just wanted a gadget to play with.
Last fall, I started dating another smoker. She's awesome. One of her friends showed up to a party with a DSE-901 of some kind that was actually passable……no competition for my Lucky Strikes, but passable. Early this year, I did some research after seeing the Mistic brand in a local gas station and found ECF on my phone that afternoon. I read an ECF review of the Mistics and spent–again–way too much money on pre-filled cartomizers and a veritable pile of batteries to get me through a day……but less than that damn smoking everywhere 510. In the mean time, she started a new job that didn't give her enough time to smoke during the day……and tapered off herself. She never smoked as much as I did and managed to quit……except when she's both drinking and ...... off. I owe it to her for making me "quit", since she pointed out how much I was coughing and how hard I was breathing after normal activities. It happened so slowly, I didn't notice.
I just hoped that the Mistics would cut down on my pointless chain smoking……I still planned to smoke, but to limit it to times when I really wanted one to limit the damage they were doing.
At some point with the Mistic, I just forgot to smoke……for like a day and a half……it happened pretty much right away when I ran out of cartomizers and started dripping……yes, dripping with a DSE-901 and an SR atty. Realizing that was stupid, I ordered an eGo Twist, DCT, juice, and some single-coil cartomizers……mostly on the advice of Grimmgreen's glowing review of the Twist.
June 7th was the end of smoking. Since then, I've changed attys/feeds, gotten more batteries, and not had a single cigarette. I haven't even really wanted one.

I looked into them about 5 or 6 years ago when I kept hearing "free offers" on the radio...BTW, any noobs reading this...do not take them up on their "free" offer; all you're going to get is junk and there's all kinds of fine print. Anyway, I started researching a bit on-line and was intrigued, but not enough to make a switch. I had lots of questions as to whether it was safer than smoking, etc and really questioned whether they would work anyway...was going to be a pretty substantial initial investment and I just wasn't convinced.
Fast forward to about a couple months ago when my buddy started vaping and showed me his gear. He had been smoke free for about a week or so, which was impressive, but we'd both done that before...so I still wasn't really convinced. That said, I was in one of my, "I gotta quit these cig kicks." I have a 2.5 year old at home and a 3 month old, as well as HBP and soaring cholesterol...I knew my time to make a life change was quickly upon me if I wanted to hang around this big blue ball long enough to see my boys grow up.
I checked in with my buddy a few weeks later and he was still smoke free and feeling better than he had in years...that convinced me to give it a whirl. Now, smoke free for a month and feeling great. On a pretty regimented, doctor prescribed diet to lower my cholesterol and blood pressure and get all of that in check...started exercising and riding my bike again. Really, everything is just coming together at the moment and I'm feeling 100X better than I have in years.
Fast forward to about a couple months ago when my buddy started vaping and showed me his gear. I saw my first e-cig back in late 2007 when some random guy at the airport was waltzing around with a lookalike trying to sell starter kits to those past security dying for a smoke.
I didn't buy (he wanted $200 dollars!) but he did let me try one and I ended up online after the flight looking for a setup.
