Yeah, you have to give those wicks a good rinse, along with the other components then do the dry burn.
It's still going to take a while though. 10min.

This is why one really needs at least 2 PVs. One for Tobacco perhaps and one for fruity or bakery flavors........
I always have 3 E-go's at the table and 3 additional backup batteries

If it's not all that dirty just run water over the wick and blow it out. Just rinse out the tank and top. They are real easy to clean. if its real dirty then I soak it in alcohol then wash it with the little silicone nipple off of it using a water pick but you can just rinse it good. Reinstall the wick minus the nipple thingi. Do a dry burn. To do that turn your voltage down. Put the VIVI on the battery minus the tank, top and that little silicone thing. Push the button looking at the coil inside. You will see one side get red. Keep doing that until you get a red look all the way across. Then (follow closely) put the little silicone piece back on the right way. There inside that silicone thingi is a piece of metal. It has two diff sides. One side is flat the other funnel shaped. The funnel side goes up. Then you put the tank back on fill it put the top on good and vape away. They clean up damn good.

OR put in another atty if your Let the old soak and clean it later. LOL
I find that thick or dark juice will leave a lot of gunk.

To pin down from the OP, does one need to clean these heads after every use to avaoid "Gunk" or does it really matter if I stick with a specific flavor for each head?

I clean and dry burn after every two to three fills depending on how thick the remaining juice is when the Vivi Nova is nearly empty.
