I just spilled my soda on my desk/books/etc by absent-mindedly reaching for the soda while studying. I jumped up and ran for a towel hoping to prevent ruining anything, and came back and started sopping up soda. That's when I realized I'd spilled it on top of my prodigy and the soda has perhaps gotten into the switch/button housing as well as all over the rest of it.

How do I go about cleaning that without ruining any soldering connections etc? I don't have a soldering gun to fix that sort of thing, and prefer not to send my Prodigy back for fixing not the least because spilling soda isn't a warranty fix! hehe

Thanks for any help!

Wow.... bad luck?

Like any electronic device this is what I would do (and in this order)

- Do NOT fire up the device!

- Dismantle it as much as you comfortably can. Fortunetly, the Prodigy is pretty easy to dismantle.

- Since you're talking about spilling a "sugary" substance, take a warm wet wash cloth and dab everything up. It should be fairly easy to do. Once you feel that you have everything mopped, maybe dry using rubbing alcohol in the same dabbing fashion. It should continue to clean, plus give you some added evporation. Try not to add any extra moisture...simply DAB.

- Once you feel it is CLEAN, then let it set (maybe overnight?).

Like any electronic device, moisture is BAD! You want to clean and then let it DRY. The switch housing seems to be fairly simple as long as you get it clean and dry.

I wish you the best!

About the only thing that might get wet that would be bad is the switch. Unless you submerged the PV I doubt it got wet. You should dissamble the prodigy and see if the switch got wet. If it didn't then just clean the metal parts and get back to vaping. If the switch got wet then PS should be the one to give advice on how to proceed.

Okay I'm really having problems now, and I believe it's related to this incident.

My Prodigy often doesn't work, pushing the button results in nothing. I have to take it apart, remove batteries, remove adapter, jiggle switch, etc, and then it'll start working again.

I've cleaned what I can with alcohol and Q-tips, but the switch doesn't come out of the Prodigy to clean inside there. I thought the entire switch was removable? I remember people saying their switch would zing out of the slot and fly across the room if they didn't remove batteries first? Why is mine sticking about halfway? I'm afraid to push it out in case it's not supposed to come out though. I don't want to break it beyond repair...

Any help for cleaning up a Prodigy that has been gunked up with soda, probably underneath the switch?

HELP!!! hehe

EEP! There's no other option? I can't take it apart?? /sob my baby!!!

Do I need to include an atomizer for testing? What address? Do you need CC info -- after all *I* borked it up... geez..I've never actually returned anything before, usually if it's broken I fix it, or pitch it out...but this is my baby! How do I return something??

Plugging in my backup PT/Kensington option now....

Ohh..I just saw the posts above Cash's...is it possible to fix this on my own, Cash? I got my Prodigy on August 4th, if that helps you decide which switch I have. My order# was 17756.

I don't want to hassle you about it if I can fix it, so is it okay to push it out gently but firmly using the batteries? I just wasn't sure if it had a solder or something in there that would break if I did push it out. If that won't hurt it, I feel capable of cleaning it up on my own.

If it's not a sure thing though, I'd rather return it to you..the way some people are about their cigs..that's me and my Prodigy :) My constant companion!

Ohh gotcha...email going to Casey now :) Thanks for being the kind of company you are!
