How do I de-stinkify my lair once I start vaping?

I smoke in my room all day long and my room basically smells like an ashtray.

I was wondering if there was a cheap method to REEEEALLY get the cig smell out of a room? Air freshener just makes the room smell like a coconut ashtray.

WASH EVERYTHING Its good doing it actually and seeing all that crud coming off everything will stop you ever doing it again ! The smell will go, i had to do the same.

If you got carpet, use some of that carpet powder stuff. For all cloth/fabric furniture and drapes use Febreeze - that stuff really does work well. And it's not really necessary for smell, but paint the walls - after all the smoke they probably need it.

Bicarbonate of soda washes are good (and cheap) but you have to wipe any bicarb residue off as it can leave deposits on shiny surfaces (like fridge, counter top etc). Can aslo add to washing machine for clothing, or carpet cleaner + water for ..er.carpets lol
Febreze is good for places you can't wash, or the stuff you can buy for 'dog accidents' also helps get rid of smells. Some people swear by leaving things like a lemon out overnight to absorb smells (or milk but Im not sure that might not smell worse if it got warm...)

After Painting a room, there is always that horrible stench of paint that makes it tough to inhale through your nose. I learned a method to get rid of that smell. I call it the Hudson River Effect because the HR absorbs all the odors from the city. Hence its pollution problem. Put buckets of water all over the place, that should do the trick. If that doesnt work, repaint your lair because the Cigarette smell is absorbed into your walls. Repainting will seal it in and then to get rid of the paint smell, the HRE will do the rest. I will try the 'HRE' laugh and washing everything (I do that anyway) and febreeze.

Does febreeze contain anything that kills odors or is it just a good smell-masker?

I'm just using a generic air freshener.

For washing walls, I had success many years ago using Murphy's Oil soap on the walls of a house where it had been smoked in for at least 30 years. Granted it took about 3-4 washings and more buckets of nasty water than I wish to recall but it helped. Also charcoal, baking powder, and vinegar all help filter smells.
And if you want to brute force the issue of covering it, get some tea tree essential oil, lavender can work as well, any EO with a high terpinol count likely will help knock some of the smell out.
There are certain paints meant to prime over smoked-in rooms but I don't know brands. Also might want to look into thermal foggers, although I do not know how practical they are to rent/hire.

Fabreeze kills smoke odors very well. It actually does have a removal effect, and it works on paint also besides fabric.

you could always move.... Actually three days after we made the switch the wife was crazy about scrubbing down walls with bleach i don't know exactly what we used but it worked.... I think. We also took all out clothes to the launromat and out couch cushion covers etc all at once and febreezed the crap outta everything else.

I'm definitely not going to be moving, it's not that severe.

I think febreeze, time, and a little scrubbing will make a great deal of difference.

Heheh no worries newbs only get their feet held to the fire in games That is part of the normal social bonding. I have to say that being a member on several forums, this is one of the best groups of posters that I have been around. Long time veterans are constantly replying to the same threads they've seen daily for what must be years now That is what separates this group IMHO.

You are indeed referring to baking soda....and not baking powder, a mistake I have made...I just have no cooking skills to speak of lol

While I never smoked inside my home, I did completely cleanse the inside of my car about one week into vaping. Water and vinegar mixture for the windows (takes off that yellow brownish residue left behind from the smoke), Renuzuit odor remover spray for all the fabric surfaces, including the carpet, and wiped down all the hard surfaces with simple green mixture. Vacuumed the carpets and voila! done. New car again.

Even my completely non-smoker friends noticed how fresh and clean it smelled and looked.

Sams club sells a heavy duty degreaser in the comercial cleaning chemicals area. it's around 12.00 US per gallon. It has a strong lavender scent and, it cuts the oily smoke residue. Use full strength where you can but dilute with half water for painted surfaces and dump half a cup in a full load of laundry to get the smoke out of curtains and bedding. Pet odor remover sprays from the pet store do well for de smking the matress and box springs. of course you would just wash a waterbed with the degreaser but, not all of us have waterbeds.
