I guess a LR head is your best bet. I have always wanted a SB but would need the kick to use with it. I can not stand my vape getting weaker as the battery drains. Does the kick regulate that? You could go the sub ohm rout but you need to read up on battery chemistry and all that stuff before you do that. If you are really considering it you could ask for links to what you need to learn. I am not a mech user so I don't know all of it but others will be happy to help you out.

I would like to improve my vapor and throat hit. The flavor on my iClear seems to be fine at the current voltage.
Mechanical mods are best paired with rba's/rda's. You won't get the performance out of a clearomizer unless you use a kick. Better yet get yourself a apv like a vamo, Sid, or an MVP. Then you can get the most out of your clearomizers
I have an MVP already, I would like to have a back up mod though that can function well. I would like to get the most out of my SB with the smallest investment possible. If the best I can do without a KICK is a rebuildable perhaps I need to buy a KICK. I do not have any of the supplies needed to build coils and test them.
LR is your best bet without changing what your using up much. I know just how you feel. I felt the same way when I had a Rio. Loved that thing but still felt I needed more from it that I just wasn't getting.
you can get an Igo L 50ft of kanthal and a lifetimes worth of cotton for a little over 20$
And an ohm meter for $20. That's probably the most important part. An apv ohm meter is less accurate and cannot be left on to check for shorts.
You don't need to use an RBA for your back up. Just get some low ohm cartomizers. If you get stuck in a jam with your SB and LR cartomizers you can change your battery out early to keep a decent voltage and you will be OK. Don't let anyone push you into RBA's if you don't want to go that rout. I love them but they aren't the only way to get a decent vape. The newer people are spoiled by all the advanced stuff available now. People survived just fine before all these new and no doubt wonderful gadgets were around.
Well, if you have the normal Silver Bullet (switch with wires) then it wouldn't handle sub ohm.. Best way to get the most of it would be rebuildable attys but you wouldn't be able to push as much power as a true mechanical mod. I wouldn't go any lower than 1 Ohm on the Silver Bullet.

I will say this though. If you add a kick to your SB you will love it again, rather then just keep it for a backup it can be a much loved device as I am sure it once was before you got your MVP.
I would say a low res carto tank lots of vapor just make sure carto is like 1.8 smoke tech has
