How do I identify the ohms on my atty?

You need a meter that will read "Ohms". Most (inexpensive) VOMs (Volt Ohm Meter) or DVMs (Digital Volt Meter) will do it "OK".

You put the meter on the Ohms scale, short the two leads together and verify that the meter reads "0" Ohms.. then put one probe on the threaded portion of the atty and the other on the center "pole" (battery contact). Read the resistance on the meter.

thanks scottbee! what do you mean by "threaded portion of atty?" and by battery contact, thats just on the outside of the atty, the part that screws into the batt?

The gold threads on the atty and the battery contact on the atty is the part where the little center hole is.
