I just want to make sure I understand: am I mainly looking for a burnt taste and less vapor (when the cart is full of liquid)? Does anyone with a Halo G6 have any input on how long (or how many refills) it takes for the carto to go south?

No idea about that particular cartomizer, but I think it's all pretty much the same.
If you get a burnt, really terrible taste- best to throw it away. When the draw gets really hard and you aren't getting a lot of flavor or vapor, it's pretty much shot. If that's the case you could try giving it a cleaning. Halo juice has a good consistancy and shouldn't clog up cartos quickly, but it's worth a shot trying to clean them if that happens.

thanks swedish- I've only been vaping for a week so I'm sure none of my carts are there yet, but I wouldn't say I have the most refined sense of taste so I didn't know if I would notice the burnt taste. It sounds though from you and other threads I've read that it will be pretty obvious when it happens.
Yes Swedishfish is right- hard draw, burnt taste, stuffing doesn't seem to absorb. Also if your juice has lots of VG or are dark in color they tend to clog up cartos quicker. As my carto gets used and I notice a harder draw I switch to a lighter and more heavily PG mix. I usually get about 2 weeks out of a carto but during that time I've cleaned it twice.
Note - we call those cartomizers aka cartos to distinguish them from cartridges aka carts which are what;s used on a separate atomizer.
I use thin clear juices, PG w/ 20% or less VG, avoiding all juices that drop flavoring sediment (clogs cartos, gunks up the coil, shortens life of carto)
I vape 2+ ml per day and I can get 7+ days use out of a Bloog/G6/Volt type carto. I do not use the condom method - I drip jucie in from the top. I make sure the first fill is 18 drops plus however many more it will soak in easily since they are 1 ml cartos. I clean it up and let it settle on different sides for 15-20 minutes after the first fill. After them I keep it damp and avoid singeing it.
When the drag and flavor have degraded too much, I switch to a new one. And so far I have always gotten at least 7 days out of one (and that is 14 days for me because I vape 2 models, each 1/2 the time, maybe the G6-like model a bit more than 1/2 the time, and get 14 days use out of the carto, so I am counting that as 7 days use).

Thank you for the info. I am starting to use kanger horizontal coil and this info will be very useful!
