How do i understand DIY??

I have not been vaping for too long. But i bought a DIY kit because after seeing Wicked Liquids calculator it was simple to understand. But then i ordered a kit from the DIY flavor shack and their nicotine level was 36, not 60. So the Wicked calc was incorrect for my amount of nicotine and the DIY shacks instructions were so confusing to me. I need a MEDIUM STRENGTH, and i have about 8 different flavors i can use. I just need it put in a simple way for me to make a 5 ml bottle. Thank You all, this website has been a HUGE help!!

Here is a very simple approach to make 5ml of DIY juice.

You have 36mg unflavored juice. Your want 18mg flavored juice. 18/36 = .5 => .5 x 100 = 50%

So your going to mix 50%s 36mg unflavored juice with 50% of VG, PG, VGG and flavoring I’m not sure what type of flavoring you have but 15% is not bad place to start.

So here’s the recipe.

50% 36mg unflavored juice
35% VG or PG or VG/PG
15% Flavoring.

Mixing:

If you use the same size eye dropper for each ingredient, the percentages will be close. Say 1ml = 20 drops. Then 5ml is 100 drops.

In a 10ml bottle, place…

50 drops of 36mg unflavored
35 drops of VG or PG or VG/PG
15 drops of flavorings.

Shake well and place in a cool dark place for 3 days.

Like I said, this is a very simplistic approach but should be enough to get you started.

So i think i am set for a while!! But if i use a 5 ml syringe to mix it all, what are the ml's i would use exactly? and what about if i decide to use multiple flavorings? How much would i use then?

If you going for 5ml of 18mg Exactly, here is a recipe for 15% flavoring

2.50ml 36mg unflavored juice (50% x 5ml = 2.50ml)
1.75ml VG or PG or VG/PG (35% x 5ml = 1.75ml)
.75ml Flavoring (15% x 5ml = .75ml)

I’m not sure what type of hit you are looking for. I like more vapor and less throat hit. So when I dilute with VG.

The rule of thumb is More VG = More Vapor. More PG = More throat hit.

That is the cool thing about using percentages. If you flavoring percentage is 15% and you making 5ml, your going to add .75ml of flavoring.

If you want to use two different flavor, no problem. The TOTAL flavoring is still going to be 15% (.75ml for 5ml of juice). So if I'm making Pineapple-Watermelon and want more Pineapple than Watermelon, I add .5ml of Pineapple and .25 of Watermelon.

One thing I forgot to mention is you have to keep ACCURATE AND DETAILED RECORDS when you DIY.

It is the only way to keep track of what works and what doesn't

Download and install Breaktru's DIY program....it's fantastic and easy to use. It has to be; otherwise I couldn't use it.

I can be. Once you have recipes that work. It can also be nice to have flavors laying around to "fix" retail juices that don't have much taste.

I buy retail juice sometimes. The last juice I bought was some Peach that a couple of members raved about. I found it to have about as much Peach taste as tap water. But after 10 drops of "Green Apple" flavoring it wasn't half bad. Then after 4 drops of 'Caramel" it was very vapable.

So DIY sometimes can be a good thing. But it does take time and patience.

another thing. I bought a blackberry nicotine liquid...and i HATE it. i was SO excited to get a blackberry and its awful. can i make it taste any better?

Sounds like your getting on to it.

Just look at flavoring as either one flavor or the sum total of 2 or more. But the amount of flavoring your going to add, in ml, is going to stay the same.

I have some recipes that call for Caramel, Chocolate, Butter and Sweetener in equal amounts. No problem. I just figure out what the total amount of flavoring is going to be and divide it by 4. That way the total of the 4 flavors adds up to the amount of flavoring in the entire mix.

And yes, to make 10ml, you would just double EVERYTHING.

Sure you can. You might dilute it with some 18mg unflavored (half 36mg and half VG or Pg or VG/PG) to reduce the flavor and then add something like Bavarian Cream or Waffle.

Sometimes the fruit flavors need a little sweetener to really make them pop I have found. I (and many others on the forum) use splendex. I also like to put just a dab of ethyl malto in to really make duller flavors shine. You probably have a little of the ethyl malto with the kit you bought, I did.

BTW – Here are some flavors and what they do for me.

Cotton Candy (ethyl malto) – General Purpose Sweetener
Vanilla – Brings out Flavor in “Brown” juices like Tobacco, Waffle, Cookie, Irish Cream
Banana – Removes harshness
Bavarian Cream / Cream Cheese – Make juices smoother and a tad sweeter
Cinnamon – Great to give zing to juices. Doesn’t take much.
Pineapple – Makes fruit juices tart and gives more body.
Vodka – Add TH and pop.

Here's where you need to give us a better post.

Do you want to make it sweeter? That's what ethyl malto does, makes thing sweeter. One drop in a 30ml bottle isn't going to do anything. One drop in a 5ml bottle might help.

What size is the bottle?
