I purchased a big bag of this cotton, but being new to building/using rda's,I have not found any advice on "prepping" the cotton for wick building? I do use the square pads, and they are great, but I want to give this a try also. It is really dense, and I don't know the way to fluff it up for building wicks? Any help would be greatly appreciated! 001 (13).jpg

The problem with mystery cotton is that you don't know if it's been processed, chemicals used, and that other things that may be mixed up in it. I hope nothing in it is harmful. If it were me and I didn't have any documentation for it, I would dump it and count it towards experience, my health, as little of it I got left, is valuable.

Thinking outside the box, I've found several spinning guilds in Illinois whom may have someone that can card your cotton, Just a thought.

    :vapor:
I got it from E Bay. It's "Unprocessed Japanese Organic Cotton" It looks like I now need to learn to "card" it so I can use it. There sure will be a lot of it,once it's carded. Now it looks like I need a couple of "Carding Paddles" ( I guess that's what they are called?) This is turning into a adventure! A expensive one too! If you can't find KGD, just use this:
Amazon.com: Cotton Labo ORGANIC Cotton Puff Size M (200pc): Health & Personal Care

    Same stuff, cheaper...

Yeah,I think I'm just gonna chalk this one up to experience, cut the loss and move on!:) We have a local shop here that sells the organic cotton in the square pads for 5.00 per 5 pads,or a buck apiece . I've heard of guys buying them by the box but haven't found any dealers selling them?

    Don't pay that price.
These are the same as KGD:

I just bought a 60 pad box of KGD from Nordstroms last night for $12 shipped, that seems to be about the best deal right now for KGD with the Labo pads being another inexpensive option.
