So here I am frustrated. You see I smoked for over half my life, I even lost a marriage to it and I managed to quit in literally no time with an ecig. I picked up a cigarette once after using an ecig, and that was when someone I know was in surgery and my batt died while pacing the floor and chain vaping, (dumb me left home with out my charger). The transformation has been unreal. There is nothing about analogs I like anymore... nothing. My grandfather is 80 years old and stays on the couch all day chain smoking. He has smoked like a chimney as long as I can remember and you know what??? He told me how dangerous ecigs are, I mean the government said they tested them... (Insert rage filled scream here...)

Every time I read an article on how this group or that one is pushing for ecig bans because they are dangerous I want to kick and scream. Seriously, I have an 11 old little girl and she is so happy I quit. I would like to know which FDA butthead is willing to volunteer to tell her that mommy should be smoking analogs, I mean after all ecigs are bad and they are just trying to protect her, (remind the volunteer to wear shin guards, my little one doesn't tolerate BS.) :grr: And yes, by throwing their weight around and pushing to have ecigs pulled while leaving the real thing out there that is exactly the message they are sending. They have some nerve to sit there and tell me that the flavors are too tempting to children... if that is the case I want every bloody drop of fruit flavored alcohol banned, and oh yeah the chocolate ones too. Also, flavored body lotions and what not, those things have everything from strawberry to butterscotch. Where is the outrage at these products?

So I want to know how we get louder? I have been trying to catch up to all the reading on the board that pertains to this subject. Seriously, I am all for a class action lawsuit against the FDA if they actually manage to ban them. But I would like it to not get that far... The facts rarely matter in cases like this it seems. We know that we are not mainlining anti-freeze, or blowing clouds of unknown poisonous chemicals about. We know that kids are not the only ones who love the flavor of cake and ice cream. And we also know that so many people have used these miraculous objects to walk away from a slow moving on-coming train. I don't want to be my grandfather, sitting in clouds of smoke because I have an addiction and they only real option left is to kill myself with it.

I am doing my best to educate people about ecigs one person at a time and I have met more resistance than I thought I would thanks to the FDA "selling itself" for big tobacco and pharmaceutical. (BTW, pharma? Yeah, stop adding cherry flavor to so many kids meds... it is enticing and they might try to eat more of it than they should.)

This isn't a movie and they have both the bigger war chest and a head start. How do we compete with that? I am frustrated and want to do more than tell one person out a time. I need to be louder... which thanks to quitting analogs, I can be.

What can I do?

Thanks,
Z.

I find that ironic because most 80 year olds from the south are so anti government they don't believe anything the government says, it's all propaganda.

Someone will chime in on the organizations you need to join and support.

Glad to hear it's worked for you, at least one person was saved.

There isn't one person on this forum that doesn't agree with you. It all boils down to who can fill the FDA's pockets with the most money. Unfortunately, BT and BP does it the best. If the FDA really cared about us, most products would be banned. All we can do is stand united and tell our story of how ecigs helped us and keep our fingers crossed that they listened.

Bravo! What a great post - well written, truth-filled and passionate. I hope you're one that fights the good fight for PVs. +1 for CASSA.

Big Tobacco, Big Pharma and Big Gov't are playing whack-a-mole, bashing every vaper/supplier they can. Problem is we're not that stupid. For every one they discourage, ten more are choosing vaping. It's happening right now :)

How do we get louder?

State of the Union Statement:

There is only one sure way to be heard: write your politicians. There is nothing more powerful we can do until election day. Sure we can donate to supporting organizations, but that pales in comparison with the dollars that BT and BP contribute.

There use to be a day when money couldn't buy many votes, those days are long gone. BUT, your vote is the one that the pols want to get elected/re-elected. Until we all realize that we can still have an impact and act on it, we have no control whatsoever. Yeah, someone will say that we can't overcome the present political process. Well, how the hell do ya know when most just sit around here .....ing without lifting a finger (and no, the 'bird' doesn't affect pols).

It's just Big Pharm (BP) not BT, that is the problem.

Zarina, if you want to make a make a difference, DeKalb County is considering a smoking ban with e-cigarettes included. Their next meeting is Tuesday August 23rd at 9 AM in Decatur. They may be voting on the measure, so this could be the last chance to convince them to offer an amendment to exclude e-cigarettes from the definition of smoking.

If you can speak, please message me.
