You need a resistor to drop 2v before the atomizer. The size of the resistor you'll need is going to depend on the resistance of your atomizer.

Do you have a multimeter? If so, let me know the resistance of your atomizer, and the voltage of the batteries when freshly charged and I'll help you figure it out.

does anyone know the parts i would need to do this?
im thinking of trying a 2AAA mod and 5 V is just bliss

Probably a .75 - 1.25ohm 1/2watt resistor ...

I am also trying to drop a 6v battery to only put out 5v to the atomizer, and help what I would need there. Pm me or post here, I have a cool mod I am working on but can only find a 6v battery to fit. Thanks for any help you may give.

.5ohm 2watt resistor will do the trick

Do you know if I can get it at radio shack. I was there today and only saw 1 watt resistors. Didn't look real close tho.

Radio Shack has 10 ohm, 100 ohm and 1k ohm 1 watt resistors. In order to get it right, you'd need to string along several in series to match the right ohms you're looking for. Unless you're in a pinch, I'd recommend looking online for resistors of the right ohm level.

the diode method does work, that is what I use all day, every day. I ordered some of the 2watt.5ohm resistors yesterday to see what that experience is like in comparison.

Do you mind telling me where you ordered them or maybe selling me a few of them. Let me know. I have searched and cannot find them anywhere.

it took me a long while to find them too! www.tubedepot.com, bascially a site for parts to repair amplifiers, look under the DIY section for resistors, they're like 15 cents.....

thanks man. im pretty confused about all this
i will set up 2x 3.7 10440 500Mah(really 360Mah) cells in series that should give me around
8V to 8.4V fully charged
space is a factor since the smaller the better
i dont really get how a resistor works compared to a power regulator or a power diode
but since i have 7.2V it would be silly to waste the current, i just need to lower the volatage to around 5V for a 901 atty
