We don't know how carcinogenic is actually vaping so we don't have an absolute answer to this kind of comments... What to answer to these people?

In the advent of the automobile they were positive that anything faster than 30 mph would literally tear our bodies apart, if God meant for man to fly we would be creations with wings, eat a bushel of cranberries and you'll drop over dead, a penny dropped from the Empire State building will smash right down to the center of your neck, Mary Jane will always lead you into even more dangerous drugs, and on and on .... what's funnier than these idiots is that the things that really do scare me were never mentioned ... like people with extreme claustrophobia stuck in those crazy little boxes called elevators till they are freed and have gone freekin' crazy or died of a heart attack ...

Vaping doesn't suppress genes. Some genes are either active or inactive.
When the genes that trigger immune responses are inactive (suppressed)
that usually means there is nothing to trigger them into and active state.
PG and VG are antibacterial and antiviral. In the absence of pathological or
toxicological agents these genes would normally be in a inactive (suppressed)
state. There s no evidence that these genes would not become active if it
became necessary for them to do so. This is all mid 20th century high
school biology. Please note that I am not disagreeing with the data.
This is a classic case of taking the data and interpreting it in the worse
possible light. In the study the commenter is referring too it was to be
expected that in the absence of agents to trigger an immune response
the genes would be in an inactive state. The vapor didn't do anything
to the genes. The lack of pathogens or toxins caused the genes to become
inactive.

1. Why, oh why is the unknown only looked at from the negative viewpoint? Maybe, just maybe there is a very positive unknown lurking in there somewhere.

2. Based on #1, I think I would rather subject myself to what we don't know rather then what we do know.

With a total lack of any evidence vaping is causing harm all they have
are boogie men to frighten the masses with. With the lack of short term
harm comes the reasonable conclusion that long term harm is the least
likely out come. PG/VG ,flavorings and nicotine do not accumulate in the
body. Modern toxicology indicates there is no harm occurring even with
the nicotine as the dose is to low. That just leaves them with the good
old tried and true unknown potential dangers. Sounds scary right?
Not really. In order for something to be potentially dangerous it also
must be by definition potentially safe. They could very well say with
the same credibility to not vape it may be potentially safe or you.
That doesn't have the same alarmist ring to it though.

I'm going to agree with the fact that we don't have enough information in regards to "long term" effects vaping does to the body like we do with cigarettes.

However, I would just tell them that PHE (public health england) recently did a study and the fac is vaping is 95% safer than smoking.

"How would I deal with them?"

If they're someone I know and care about, I would try to point them in the right direction.

A random stranger on the Internet? I may post a few links. However, if they insist on staying willfully ignorant, in the words of Mark Twain:

"Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience."

You simply link to this:

...........and add - those that live in Fear of the unknown, Both live and Die in Fear, having wasted much time missing out on life itself. :D

Oh how fast they can put together a new medicine test team group .... with tv warnings about the side effects that are triple the threat of the illness you are taking the medicine to control .... but open up a lousy 30x30 room ... put in a few disco days fog machines, let them live in there for a few weeks and test them ... freek no, that ain't gonna happen ... on second thought, bad idea ... once they get the room, the people, feed them, etc ... they don't dare come away with a verdict of 'harmless'

Nothing at all. Some people have their minds made up no matter what you say. Also, I just happen to be one of those people who don't respond to everything I read; regardless of how it may make me feel.

How do I deal with people like that?
I stay off social media.
Social media are computer-mediated tools that allow people or companies to create, share, or exchange information, career interests, ideas, and pictures/videos in virtual communities and networks.
Just sayin'. ;)
