Hey guys, so I've been experimenting with different wicks, the quantity length etc. and I was curious how people do cotton wicks, or are there rules? The reason I ask is that I decided to give it a whirl on a super tightly would coil that can really only fit .5-1mm of silica in it, and trying to get a corkscrew 1/4 of a 2mm in there was frustrating me
First lesson I learned.... don't dry burn cotton when checking for atty ohms lol. I found out real quick when I took that first vape that cotton burns a lot cooler than silica
After removing the charred halves of my first cotton wick, I rewicked and soaked it. A bit of a burnt taste, but I figured since I lazy replaced the first one I would have to work through some burn.... vaped and vaped... still the burned taste. Gave it a look, and the center was grey.... burned
Long story short, I'm back to silica and managed to tweeze/toothpick the corkscrew of silica in and I'm vaping away just fine. Also worth noting, I tried the cotton on a 1.8 coil first, thought maybe that was too low and caused burnage, so tried it on a 2.4 with the same effect. What is the magical trick to using cotton without burning???
