Okay makes sense, is there a discernible quality difference between silica wick and cotton gauze?

The most often sited properties, cotton tastes better but burns very easily if too dry, needs to be changed frequently....silica cannot burn but gives your juice an off taste, can be dry burned and lasts longer.

Okay. I am in the middle of exams, and i don't have any cotton or silica, and I can't seem to find friends who do either. Will it damage the atomizer if I continue use in this way, or should I take the time to go to a store (I live in a contained campus, so going to the mall takes a lot of time, and time is of the essence for me right now)

I just bought my first e-cig, a JUSTFOG 1453, and cannot seem to find any product information anywhere. How do i find out all of these specs, which appear to be important if i want to learn to make the most of my product

I went from those basic e-smokes to the Kayfun, and a Segelei Telescope Mod.... and let me tell you with the coil on the Kayfun and the Wicking, I almost got nuts. Even my wife had to help as my hands were too big to handle the small fiddling around.

Now, I watched a couple of videos on YouTube and guess what, I went from Wick to Cotton, and got the tweaking around figured out in a couple of minutes.

Here is a basic pointer, with the tanks and the Coils you need to watch the resistance, this resistance has a basic rule, as more loops around bigger the resistance, and more Ohms that are showing. You would also skew your Voltage up as the resistance is higher.

Having that said, and on my Kayfun, I do the coil with a 5/56 drill bit, 8 loops to the coil and get with the setup that I run 1.6 Ohms (wet). I run it against a 10.0 Volts push and got awesome vape.

The trick is with a new setup to tweak it, most clone manuf. do not support enough supporting documentation in order to help you out enough to get you started. But the main rule I think is, more loops in the coil, bigger resistance, more power you would need to light it up.

Also, how do i know if the wick that I'm currently using is silica or cotton?

Silica seems like a very small rope, as where cotton are like those little balls that are sold in the women section of the pharmacy, that are normally used to clean your face etc.

Here although a big warning, if you use Cotton, use ECO Cotton, not the Dollar Store one as it has many chemicals... and that is bad.

Hope that helps

You won't hurt anything using it as is....try holding the fire button for a second before drawing to heat it up a bit more, vaporize more liquid...it may help.

The worst thing that might happen is getting a drop or two of the e-liquid in your mouth...may taste bad but not dangerous at all...:)
