How do you know it's not a knockoff?

It seems there are more knockoffs than the real thing out there. For example, fasttech sells a "nautilus Style Clear BDC Clearomizer." In their photos it looks identical, right down to the name imprinted on the product: "Aspire nautilus." On eBay and elsewhere, one can find products claimed to be the "authentic" Aspire Nautilus. And still elsewhere, there is neither a claim of authenticity nor disclosure that it's a clone or "style" (e.g., MyFreedomSmokes).

So, how do you know what you're getting?

The only way to be sure is to buy from a reputable source. In many cases you just have to find out what vendors the maker is officially selling them through if they don't sell them directly. Anything from Fasttech and most everything on ebay is going to be a clone/copy/counterfeit. A lot of these sellers will use stock photos from the original maker when they market them, too

Typically, each device will have some unique physical features that distinguish it from the clones, but nowadays China has gotten better at copying and less interested in making anything different. there are a lot of them out there now that just looking at them won't give you any clues . . .

Correct.. on FT, 'Authentic', and only Authentic, means real. 'Style' or nothing means 'clone'.

As posted above, some clones are actually better than the original. A recent example is the Aspire Nautilus you are looking at. It is identical in every way except the glass is 'thicker' and less prone to breaking.

From FT, if it sais "style" it's a clone. Some of their clones are actually better than the original and have spurred V2 versions by the original manufacturer. Other sites, I'm not sure.

FastTech has never made a clone better than anything authentic, Anyways if your buying authentic, just make sure it is described authentic. Styled is cloned.

some clones are better or very close to the original. but they are far and few inbetween. if you are going to buy a clone stay away from fasttech and buy a good clone. infinite, and hcigar are the best clone makers in my opinion.

if you want a clone. best to decide what you want and then research who makes the best clone. and get it from a reputable source. you might spend $20 more but it will save you countless headaches.

if you want the real thing you will have to buy from a reputable source

I can always tell a clone.............by the price. bahahahaha Just kidding. I just wanted to welcome you to ecf. I have been buying from FT for over a year now and have been totally pleased with everything I've gotten there. Just read the reviews and do some research. The best way is to get recommendations from the wonderful people of ecf. Good luck to ya and happy vaping to ya. :vapor:

Thank you, my dear Rat. You've made me feel all warm and fuzzy and I've just blown out a giant cloud of poisonous vapor in your honor.

Footnote: "Poisonous" is a term I use to mock ANTZ, in case your sarcasm meter is in the shop for repairs.

You are welcome. :) My sarcasm is never in need of repairs and it comes with a "kick" too........
