How do you open a Bartleby?

I just got a little nicostick called a Bartleby and it puts out great vapor, but I can't get the battery compartment open. I've tried everything short of breaking it. I didn't get an answer to my email so I hope someone here can help me.

Slide the back downwards with the atomizer side up. Make sure you are sliding the opposite side to the button off. On the buttonless side, you will see some small ridges near the top. Push down on them a bit and slide down a bit.
