How do you pop off your ego-c tank cap?

I use the hard plastic end caps on my ego-c tank cartridges (type-a, the cap that had the little hole that the atty pierces). I have no finger nails, and those suckers are on there pretty good.
I've been using scissors to pop them off. Its still very difficult, i often have to use so much force that the cap ends up flying across the room. The plastic gets damaged after a while, and i think it may be the reason for some minor leaking that I've started experiencing lately.

Any tips?

Seriously. Clean and easy, you just need a nice grip :)

On a side note, do you know what else may cause slight leaking where the mouth piece meets the cone? I feel like its a very odd place for liquid to be escaping. When i take the tank out and look inside the cone, there is absolutely no excess aside from your typical, minor condensation

And the tank is nice and snug... I push it down as far as it can go so its flush

I don't remove the cap. I have used a syringe before to refill the tanks; I now have a tiny pipette that works well. Some vendors sell squeeze bottles with needle tips, some even sell replacement caps with blunt syringe needles. You may even be able to just press your regular dropper bottle tight on the hole and squirt juice in the hole but I've have mixed results with that method.

About juice where the mouthpiece meets the cone I'm guessing that's condensation that gets scraped off the cone when you put it back in the atty.

i wish that was the problem! unfortunately it is not, because i am constantly wiping down that area, even in between fills....i find that if i leave th ego/cone/tank standing straight up when not being use, then it doesnt get out. if i put it down on its side, liquid will begin to escape. ive never had this issue before!

ive tried diffent cones and different cartridges, but it is still happening. this is why im beginning to think its damaged plastic on the cartridge...probably the endcap, specifically. im going to try a brand new mouthpiece tonight, see how that works out.

I use the bottom end of tweezers & flick the hard plastic cap at the edge. I do this over an open case so it doesn`t fly across the room (a small plastic container would work too). I also use the silicone caps and they can be easily grabbed using a paper towel.

The leaking issue sounds like a bad seal or tank. As far as the extra fluid, I find if my atty isn`t heating up enough (dying battery) there is more fluid around the tank.

I noticed leakage before with them tanks.. I think if the hole that is pierced by the atty is "used" over and over again and gets big enough damage around the plastic it lets air into the tank and leaks the fluid out around I have had the happen before and it was fixed by changing tanks.. hope that helps

Yep, a syringe works fine for cleaning a tank. No need to pop the top off at all.

Holding it under a very thin stream of water works, too. Just let the water run into the hole in the tank for a while then move it to the air vents on either side. I keep my finger over the hole in the mouth piece to force the water to flow in one vent opening and out the other. Then I move the flow to the hole in the mouth piece to make sure that area is clean, too.

Either way works just fine.

I haven't had any leaking problems with the original hard caps, either.

I did order a pack of soft caps and gave a couple a try, but they did leak.

One thing I noticed, with the hard caps the spike fits snugly in the cap's hole, where with the soft caps the spike is loose. I'm just wondering if maybe I got the soft caps for the "B" tanks instead of the "A" tanks that I have.

Does anyone know if the spike for the "B" is larger than the "A" spike?
