How do you take the ring off an 801 atty?

I've seen it recommended here and there to remove the bottom ring on an 801 atomizer to allow for more air flow.

Can this be done without ruining the atty? If so, how is it done?

The ring is a tight fit and glued on. You could try a little heat then pull, but there is a chance of ruining the atty in the process.

I take the ring off if there is little to no airflow through the atomizer. I have had a few 801 mods with a short battery connector and the atomizer screwed down flush with the battery connector mounting surface. Generally, I take a needle-nosed pliers and pick off little bits of the ring until I can get hold of a big enough piece to peel it off like the old-style sardine cans with a key. This will help if your pwnstyle atomizer is the type with the air channels on the outside of the atomizer connector. Some atomizers like the JKBC-304 have holes next to the center conductor of the atomizer.

Thats the same thing I do...it gets right down to the last little piece of metal before it starts to tear, then it just falls off. I wouldn't heat it up, your gonna mess up the glue then you got trouble....no heat.
