Hi guys,

Not looking to stir up the pot here, just interested in your thoughts.

I would think that vaping has to be easier on our bodies than smoking analogs is.
But... I really wonder....is this safe?

I know...after totally messing up my lungs for years and years of smoking cigarettes, why am I even questioning this, when I was willing to do the damage that has been done. I just wonder, without any real conclusive research being done, is this really a safer alternative?

Just interested in your thoughts.

I just spent 6 hours hiking in the Appalacians and never even got winded. Tired, yes, winded no. We hiked some pretty rough stuff today with packs and our Bully. 3 months ago I would have not done this. Back when we had 2 feet of snow and I had to shovel just a little bit, I knew I needed to stop smoking. I smoked analogs since I was 13 and am 43 now.

There are some studies.... this link has several links. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...icles-validate-e-cigs-safer-than-analogs.html

And I do think More studies need to be done, most "nicotine studies" are based on "tobacco based nicotine" We need some Nicotine Only long term studies.
However every ingredient in e-liquid(from reliable companies) has been approved for human consumption by the FDA...including inhaling nicotine(google nicotine inhalers)

I'd personally I'd never tell a NON smoker to try this...but it's just common sense for a smoker who cant/doesnt want to quit to switch to this. To skip the 4,000 some odd Other poisons in analog cigs. It's just "BettER" and "SafER" ...we just dont know if it's truly 100% "safe" yet.

I saw a few links somewhere on the message boards that were pretty good for data/ studies. Somewhere in the " library" section, I think.

I quit analogs for 2 days but started again last night because I'm out of juice. I'm feeling pretty icky right now. When my juice comes in the mail on Monday, I think I'll just throw away the rest of these analogs. Yuck.

have quit for almost 4 days now,
tried other methods of quitting.

i noticed the "hacking cough" i had on day 3, just like when i quit on day 3 with nicotine gum.
after a while i may switch to gum. and use PV when i really get an urge.

it pisses me off when i hear all this crap about "not a quit smoking aid".
personally i think it should be.

I've only been smoking for about 3 years (started in college), but I couldn't quit. I tried NRTs, I even signed up for a smoking cessation class at my university. I'm on day 15 of no analogs, and I feel generally better in so many ways.

Initially, I thought "oh, this doesn't taste good enough" to keep doing it, but as my sense of taste and smell returned, vaping got even more awesome.

I was smoking about half a pack a day before; I can't imagine that water, propolyne glycol (metabolizes to something like lactic acid or glucose), candy oil (sugar/other non-toxic metabolites), and nicotine alone being a less safe alternative to the cornucopia of carcinogenic compounds in tobacco smoke.

Look at it this way, in cigarettes there are over 4,000 added chemicals. If that isn't bad enough right there? There are over 42 known carcinogens in this deadly mix such as arsenic, cyanide, cadmium, mercury (which by the way is the 2nd most deadly toxin to humans with plutonium being Number 1), and let us not forget the newest ingredient they've added to make almost all brands of cigarettes fire safe, carpet adhedsive! Just look for "FSC" on cigarette packs now, usually it is located near the UPC codes, but not always. Compare that to the very few ingredients in e-cig products, plus no tar, carbon monoxide, and secondhand smoke which is more deadly than firsthand! These few facts alone should tell the tale...

Gail.....the below link is an excellent read by respected researchers that I believe has been submitted for Peer Review:
