Flavors were key for me. My first 2 juices were a menthol and a honey tobacco, they weren't bad but I wanted to not smoke and trying to simulate smoking just made it harder to not smoke. Switching to a lemon flavor and dl atty was my turning point. Coffee and caramel flavors with my morning coffee is the only thing that gave me hope of giving up my beloved AM cigs. Took 5 months to give up those but vaping with flavors won the day.

(1) how important flavors were to get you off of cigarettes when you began vaping.

Extremely important. Tried vape back when only cheap cig-a-like hated it. Tried again a few years later with fruity flavor and stopped smoking by saying I don't want this stinky thing I want my yummy vape!

(2) how important are they to you today to keep you from returning back to smoking?

Won't smoke again. I DIY juice mostly unflavored now but add some flavor when I want. Feel bad for all the people who haven't switched yet.

I do a lot of flavors now. I started with "tobacco" flavor but quickly figured out there wasn't anything that actually tasted like cigarette smoke. I still do some tobacco and some flavors. I have usually going 4 attys with different juice in them and go for which ever I feel like at the time.

They don't care. Keep fighting to correct public perception.
This meme perfectly illustrates their attitude. #msabloodmoney

It took me a while to make the switch to vaping because every flavour I tried I didn't like, I did enjoy lemonade and latter strawberry/lemonade and I made the switch. Eventually I started DYI and have vaped unflavoured ever since.

For many of you who can't live without flavoured juice, make your own unflavoured and order flavours online.

Probably wouldn't have mattered to me, I tried tobacco flavor when I started vaping, had stopped smoking before I tried any others. I do like fruit flavors now, and never vape tobacco flavor.
If tobacco is all that is available, I'll probably find one I can live with, or just unflavored, or some DYI, who knows.

My wife just recently decided to quit smoking, she's been against vaping from the beginning and really hated to size, look of mods. I waited a couple days after her stop date, gave her a vuse alto, probably more for my own survival, I've been through other attempts, small, simple, and she likes it. I tried a couple puffs of the rich tobacco, not terrible. Now to figure out how the reduce the nic!! Anyone got a good DYI for vuse rich tobacco;(

Tbh not sure how important flavors were when I started. Like most I did start out with tobacco's and they weren't bad, I was just curious about other flavors, so I spent loads of time and money and ran the gamut. I vaped fruits, bakery, candy, coffee, drink, etc and those weren't bad either. After many years of vaping various juices, I am now back where it all started in tobacco's, but these tobacco's I dont vape because it reminds me of smoking, because they taste nothing like a cigarette. The tobacco's I vape are slightly flavored, whether it's a faint caramel, vanilla , coffee, brown sugar, etc. When you mix a net tobacco with a faint flavor, its , to date, the pinnacle of my preferred juice to date.....so been thru all the dry, cheap tobacco's that most try and hate, been thru all the sweet, fruity, bubblegum type stuff, along with sweet cake and icecream type stuff and settled after years on a slightly flavored tobacco, so flavors played a big roll for sure and still do....but I hated cigs so much and even more now, that I could of and can vape plain tobacco if that was the only option.
