I know this is a strange thing to post here, but I think I may have a very unpopular opinion and was wondering if anyone around "here" has or has tried a Reo?

Waiting for my GLV3, I got all excited, saw a Reo in the classifieds and grabbed it up- cheap. I was really looking forward to it but honestly, I am not really thrilled with it.

Don't get me wrong, the device itself is in great shape, exactly as described and the vendor was super attentive, fast and helpful. But....

I'm going to sound SO spoiled here... But the button is small and jabby and so resistant it feels uncomfortable. The juice delivery isn't as smooth as I had anticipated. I'll be honest, it is highly likely I am doing something wrong- I am not that good with the 'lectronix... but it seems to be a "flood the bottom of the atty with juice and hope some soaks in" set up. Nothing wrong with that, but thats what my Vapage mod does. But the Vapage feels more comfy in my hand, is way cheaper brand new-- but gets ZERO respect on the boards.

The hit off the Reo feels strong, but I feel like I am always running dry. The Atty never feels full- or it is flooded (just a case of learning the device?). I feel I am always inches away from a nice vape hit, and never getting it. I find myself putting it down and grabbing just about anything else. The Reo that I expected to be amazing has moved to a kind of low position on my Mod hierarchy.

Whats the point of my post? Well, am I crazy? The only one? Has anyone else tried the Reo? What are your experiences? Given that mine is used, am I doing anything wrong ie. set-up/atty, anything? Does the juice just spurt into the well and your atty sucks it up as best it can? Do I need a special atty, or is there one kind that works better than another (like the Vapage)?
And finally, any feedback on the juice feeding function of the GLV3? I am wondering what it is like for those lucky enough to be rocking theirs right now.

thanks!

Hello lauraebk. For your "REO specific" issues, I would head over to their forum, and someone may be able to assist you.

For the GLV3 feed system feedback, I would love hearing about that too :) I think they look great, and have one on my wish list. Hoping I can convince my wife to order me one for Christmas.

Disclaimer: Sorry for linking the REO forum here. Only did it due to specific questions regarding the unit itself.

<snip>...I think I may have a very unpopular opinion and was wondering if anyone around "here" has or has tried a Reo?<snip>

I believe this explains why the post was made here in the GLV forum and not in the REO forum; Laura is looking for an objective opinion based on experiences, not a slagging from the 'nauts, many of whom, from what I've read, would likely argue the inferiority of anything that didn't come out of Rob's shop.

I've never bought or used a REO so I can't offer any insight on how well they do or don't work. Clearly it's a popular mod so Rob must be doing something right.

Some time ago, I did buy a 5v Journeyman and my experience with it was very similar to what you've described with your REO only there was a distinctive "woody" taste to every hit, even with HV atties.

I've used many different mods and I have to agree that Jay's button is by far the most comfortable and ergonomically designed (and positioned) on the market.

As for the GLV3, mine is set up for both bottom and top feed but I've strictly been bottom feeding (with Boge SR cartos not atties) and I'm quite pleased with the performance. It took some practice to figure out exactly how much pressure to put on the bottle to moisten the carto without over-filling it and causing some seepage. Once, after refilling the bottle I didn't have the tubing connected tightly and flooded the sidecar but that was user-error and not a design flaw.

At least one GLV3 owner has told me they've experienced some leaks yet others have told me they've had no problems...unless they got squeeze-happy and flooded their carto/atty.

I'm reluctant to re-configure mine for top-feeding because the bottom feed is working so well for me and I'm concerned about the tube or feeder tip coming loose in my pocket and until I have an extra tip (or two), I may wait a little longer to try it. Of course, when my Griff's Leather GLV3 holster arrives (tomorrow!) the "pocket" excuse will be a memory and I may have to try the top-feed option this weekend.

FWIW, I've talked to a couple of others who have tried both options and based on their comments, the top-feed is every bit as effective and enjoyable as the bottom-feed.

I hope you get some objective responses to your REO question and I hope your GLV3 arrives sooner than later!

Ok....going to chime in here. My son has the reo grand, I have the GLV3. He loves his Reo and he loves my GLV3. Like Scottitude I have both top and bottom.....I'm liking the bottom feed soooo much I haven't changed it yet. For the comparison? They are very similar in size. The Reo is a tad bit smaller (not by much). They both do what they are supposed to do. The Reo has a learning curve that requires you to learn in order to use it at it's best. The GLV3 says here I am, squeeze and vape. One thing my son liked better about the GLV3 is you can squeeze from both sides of the bottle instead of just the one side with the Reo. Also, a big plus is the juice bottle upside down in the GLV3 making the feeding that much smoother/easier, more ergonomically correct ?(flippin genious!) If you're looking for something wrong in the Reo, I can't comply. It is a great device. I just happen to like the GLV3 better. Ease of use, juice delivery system......GLV3 GREAT MOD!!!

Can you flood it? Yep......when you get a little heavy handed on the bottle squeeze. In reality though, it is a very very easy and quick process to get used.

I have both the REO Mini and Grand. I do have a GLV2 mini on the way as well. I must admit that the GLV3 is extremely sexy, and I kinda wish one was in the budget, but it's not at this time.

Back to the original post. Yes, the REOs can be a little frustrating at times. When I first got them, they'd be hitting great, then I'd get a little over-eager on the squonking, and I'd flood the crap out of the atty. Would take a while, but I'd eventually power through the flood, and it would be going great until I over-squonked again.

I think now I've finally got the magic touch, but still, I get the occasional flooding, and the feed on the mini seems to work better than the feed on the grand sometimes. Maybe it's the smaller diameter tube or something, I just don't know.

Do I like the REOs? Very much. Once I had a handle on just how much juice I needed to see in the cup, they performed great. There is a learning curve, and they can be frustrating. Would I do it all over again? Yes. They are super convenient, and other than user error (in my case), extremely low maintenance.

Would I buy a GLV3? Yes. If I could afford it, I would order one today. As I said before, they look amazing, and have been getting great reviews so far. Part of the reason I ordered the GLV2 mini was because I had already ordered the REO Grand, but also to see how the GLVs perform, and maybe as a stepping stone to eventually ordering the GLV3. Although now Jay has me looking at the GLV2 XL series...

I took the black plungie piece off of 3ml syringes sanded down the point and put it over my buttons it cushions it pretty good and doesn't look bad. as far as over feeding and under feeding you get use to it after a while thin juices seem to autofeed on mine. do I like my Reos? yes will that stop me from buying a GLV3? no I'm waiting for the super mini but I haven't heard anymore about it so I may just have to order a GLV3 mini instead.

Hey Lauraebk,

I have bot a Reo Mini, as well as a GLV3 mini and I can comment on my experience with both. Just remember these are my opinions on both mods that are based on my experience, not facts par-say.

When I first received my Reo mini it took some time to get used to the feeding system. I often times flooded the atomizers, and found that the 14500 battery life was just not what I wanted. Now however, I have mastered the feed. I also modified my mini to fit an 18500 as seen in the thread here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/199852-reo-mini-aka-imr-18490-storage-works-11.html. So that battery life has been a drastic improvement. Of course mine is not as professional as the one on that page, because my craftsmanship is not spectacular; but it still came out quite nice. The only hard part was cutting the back panel to allow room for the door to be put on.

Thus far with my GLV3 mini, now. The build is great. It is tuff, and feels solid. I am really loving the GLV mini disconnected from the feeding system, but with the feed system I am not so sure about just yet. I use thicker juices and it seems that to feed the juice through the tubes into the atomizer (top and bottom feed - mine is both) I have to squeeze the bottle considerably hard, and hold it for a fair amount of time in order to get the juice in. If you do not have strong hands I could see this being a problem. I have also had the tubes disconnect a few times causing the juice to simply feel the bottom chamber rather than going through the tubing. Which both times this has happened I was on the road, so I had to take it off and leave it in the car with hopes of fixing it when I got home.

So far I vote the Reo to be a more superior feeding mod, but the GLV3 to be a better stand only mod if that helps. Mind you I have only had the GLV3 for two days vs the months that I had my REO. Honestly if I would do it over again. I would buy a REO mini modify it for the 18500, and get a GLV2 5v rather than spend the money for a GLV3. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the GLV just do not find the feeding system to be easy use.

IMO....The GLV-3 in 5V is my preference to a REO.

Both work as intended, but we all have preferences. :)

I prefer the hit, draw, and feeding of the GLV-3. :2c:

Some size comparisons.

Picture93.jpg

GLV3 mini vs Reo Grand

Picture98.jpg

GLV3 mini vs Reo Mini

Size wise, the GLV3 mini is bigger then both the Grand and the mini. Heavier as well. I guess I could list the pros and cons of each from my point of view (my opinion).

Reos Pros
Very easy to refill bottles
3.7 or 6v or 7.4 volts on both the mini and grand depending on batteries you want to use.
Extremely sturdy
lockable button
small size
Easy to re-sell in classifieds

Reos Cons
Door held on with magnets
Ordering one is lame. Hard to get one in the colors you would like
Exposed drip well (get stuff in it in dirty environments like my trade)

GLV3 Pros:
Design: very nice looking mod
Indestructable: even the atty is protected from drops.
Great customer service and easy ordering

GLV3 Cons:
1 Voltage: have to buy two different ones to change up
Large size
Can not use tank systems or a lot of the rebuildable attys without goofy extension.
Very short battery life for heavy users.
Refilling juice bottle requires a lot of work and tweezers and cussing.

Reo is just an all around easier to use mod. GLV3 wins in the looks and design department.
