How Is the Black Coating Holding Up on Your BSB's?

ok, i got a BSB from electroniccigz (super fast delivery). This thing is massive compaired to my Precise 18650 but I don't mind the size at all. Button and unit is super cool.

Worried the black coating will scratch easily...i got a few black egos that scratch to metal if you look at them funny.

Does the BSB have a durable finish?

I've had 2 BSBs (gave one away) that have taken considerable abuse without a single scratch or any damage. That's not to say they're unscratchable - anything painted is. But yeah, very durable finish. Very durable period

It does not scratch too easily. Although having a softer substrate(aluminum) it can chip if dropped. I have seen some BSB come back for repair that were over a year old that looked awesome for their age and being held in someones hands all day long. I also noticed that the cinnamon juices seem to act on the powder coating around the connector....

I have dropped mine on concrete several times so it has a couple scratches on it on the bottom edge. i have some of the paint that has come off around the Atty connection but you can barely notice. Over all the BSB is one tough @!#%, if you get my drift.

Thought I saw a black one that had a speckled black finish... much prefer the matte like the SB.

That would be the Silver Vein finish. Looks akin to wrought iron. Even more durable than the black finish. Never seen it scratch. Even if it did, don't think you could tell.

Mine is close to a year old Mike and I have no real scratches at all. I have to agree about the cinnamon flavor and what happens around the connection though. But still looks and feels good.

So is this Nickel Plated (Silver) the Silver Vein ?

In the pic it looks like the shiny chrome one which I def. dont want.

No. None of the units are Nickel Plated anymore. There is Chrome (shiny), Black and Silver vein.

Umm, guess that needs to be corrected, they are no longer nickel plated, they are chrome plated now. The Silver Vein is just to the right of the center.

It is hard to take a picture of textured coatings..... hell it is hard to get a shot of any color on a round object

Very, very durable. I stick this in my purse without always taking extra care because its my 'rugged' PV. I have scratches on my top only because of a mishap with a pair of pliers. Were it not for that it'd be pristine.

And, it's rolled off my desk more than once - no nicks.

Going with that finish since I already got the BSB.

Apparently the finish will show visible scratch...i found this on a google search.

Regardless, I dropped the BSB today and not even a scuff

That looks like marks from pliers.
