I vape mech mods and go by voltage drop under load. I know what my batteries did at 0.3 ohms in a particular mod when they were new which is just a hair under 3.8V. I measure that in an rda off the posts while firing it. My last batteries did 3.7V when new and I recycled them at 2.8V if I remember correctly. I was not checking them often enough and they got away from me. I check monthly now. They were a year and a half old. I will probably not let my current set of four batts go past about 3.4V.

I just use mine until they feel anemic and give a shorter use cycle. If I suspect a battery of getting tired, I put an X on it and keep an extra eye on it to make sure it's not just my imagination. At that point I limit that battery to one setup - and only swap it out with one 'good' battery for comparison.

Not very scientific. Then again - for me it's all about how the vape feels, not so much about numbers. If something consistently don't work as it should, it's done.

(This is with mechs as well. How long they last between charges should be a good indicator on regulated mods as well)

Not as scientific either but I just watch the charge voltage on a digital display charger. I'm finding that once a battery is hitting end of life it will very quickly rise to 4.2 volts on a charger - a lot faster than functional batteries - then at rest for even a couple hours the voltage has dropped - to 4.1 volts or even lower. Performance follows that scenario with short run times and a huge voltage sag.
