Mini Protank 2 and EVODs are great for true pocket vapes. Run all day on a tiny 650 mA battery too. Watch out for Protank 3 and EVOD 2, much more common now, perhaps a "cleaner" vape than the single coils but often less flavor, even with more juice and battery consumption. These all will require a recalibration of your technique after using larger devices however.

PT coils are made by the manufacturer using welded nonresistance-resistance-nonresistance wire assemblies. While many have made coils with regular wire, I'm still skeptical about the reliability and safety of doing so. You can get pre-welded coils from fasttech for cheap but the wire combinations aren't quite ideal. I'm using the 34 ga. 2.4 ohm because I couldn't get low enough battery voltage for the 1.5 ohm 32 ga.

I've been rebuilding protank heads for my wife and I for almost 2 years. They are easy to rebuild with 30 gauge kanthal but the only con is its lack of airflow for nice lower ohm builds. The only help is the kanger airflow adapter but still restricted to the size of the positive pin hole. We have since graduated up to kayfuns and now the subtank mini, all rebuildable and I haven't used a stock factory coil since my first PT rewicking of cotton from a Q-Tip a long long time ago from seeing on youtube that you can use cotton as wicking material

ROFL. Protank head is one of the easiest rebuilds. 30 or 32awg wire, 1/16th inch drill bit, little bit of cotton, pair of tweezers/needle nose pliers, just a couple press fittings and a rubber/silicon insulator. 5 minute rebuild and way outperforms a factory head. The Protank3/Aerotank heads are a bit trickier but manageable. Just have to know what you are doing.

Yes, they are among the easiest of the NON rebuildable heads, to rebuild. BUT, not easier than a REAL RBA.
Actually I find the Dual coil heads easiest to rebuild. Not as dual coil, But parallel or twisted wire single vert coil, Then yes they do way out perform the original.

I've drilled out air holes on my EVODs and the Protank airflow base, increasing airflow and vapor production. I've been working with the same Protank and EVODs for a few years now. Occasionally a coil head/cup will break, but I've still got plenty (as well as a baggie of insulators).

I've opened the air holes and positive pin on my Evod to 1/8". Made me into a lung hitter. Only recently discovered the Evod, but this looks like my next step when I get the necessary parts.

Hi guys. Maybe this question has been asked/answered before but; What is the cheapest rta to buy? Just for nights out. Been looking at the protanks. How long could I rebuild those coils for (or other such devices)? I love rebuilding and don't want to make a habit of buying premades again. Any suggestions would be great. Cheers
You can rebuild them for a long time. new coils not too often and a rewick fairly often. The little rubber grommet around the 510 center pin will eventually give out but I have been rebuilding the same Evod and T3 coils for 10 months. they are retty much identical to the Protank coils.
Lots of vids on Youtube on how to do it with sliica or cotton. I use cotton.
I use the same coils I wound for months sometimes.

Where did you get your insulators. I have heard that some do not fit in the Evod/T3 coils.
And one place wants like a buck each for them!

Here Resistance Coil Insulator 10 Pack RUBBER OR SILICONE (CE Type Atty's, eg. Protank, Evod,T3 etc.) Be sure to get the silicone as the rubber will taste like, rubber. :-x

You might also pick up a few of these Silicone Top Caps for Protank / Evod Style Coil Heads while you're there.
Thanks but too expensive I can pick up clone coils for .80 ea here in the US and rob parts from them. About the same price and I have the entire coil assembly.
I have only had a couple of the 510 pin insulators go bad in 10 months of rebuilding them. And I lost 1 top grommet.

here is a cheaper place but not sure if there will work or not.
