General rule of thumb is,

They're good until disgust outweighs laziness.

For me their good until I get a burnt taste. Then I gotta change it. lol. I take good care of mine. I usually clean my vape out every time I switch juices. Though sometimes I get lazy or really busy lol

It does depend on what wick and device--plus liquid and vaping style and a ton of other things.

I'm a low wattage vaper, never push the wicks, and get around 25 ml out of my rayon wicks before needing to rewick.

Which is another point...you never really need to throw them out. Remove the wick, dry burn, and replace it with new wicking, and your coil heads can last months. Rewire when that finally goes and the heads themselves are practically immortal. I've been using the same set for years.

What kind of heads are you getting and for what type of tank? Back when I was buying various coils replacement heads, I could go months on a single head, BUT that was with frequent cleaning and dry burning the silica based wick clean. If you are using new ni200 or T1 based heads with cotton wicks then the old methods aren't going to work. You are going to have to use different cleaning procedures.

I use them till they do not vape as good. Usually turn the heat up a couple times. Once they are burnt taste they are done. Don't throw them out, go you Utube and look at rebuilding them and they will be better than new ones. If they are the Atlantis style or eGo One style verticals they are the easiest to rebuild. Wife's I change out her coils every two or three days. Mine usually about the same unless I am testing to see how long my rebuilds will last. CHEERS!

Yeah this is what I have been doing on my "head" systems like the old ARO's. I have 3 of them I use at work and have only used 4 total heads over the last 2 years. 2 of them are still the original heads that I have been recoiling and rewicking the whole time (about 20 rewicks per recoil). One of the original heads physically split in half so it was replaced with the 4th head and that is still going strong.

Just my two cents, but with the gov dogs barking at the gate (FDA Regs), I'd be learning how to build and maintain an RBA. Just sayin'.

I have said before, the wires, wicks, and that kind of stuff cannot be touched by the government because they have too many other uses. The devices maybe, but that will likely be fairly easy to get around even if you have to build your own "flashlight". The real issue is going to be the liquid.
