It took me the better part of 2 months to switch over to PV's completely, but I will confess that a large part of this transition was due to the fact that I had purchased a Silver Bullet.

The only thing that held me back in the beginning was the hit-or-miss performance of the stock batteries and crap atties I was getting... Once I had the right 510's, the right juice and the best made mod on the market (IMHO) I was all set.

We've all got to pay our dues... it's like learning to smoke a pipe. You'll cough and maybe even find yourself getting stuff in your mouth at first, but then everything will fall in to place and you'll forget why you even wanted to smoke those disgusting things in the first place.

I wish you all the luck in the world, OP, :)

I never bought another pack of cigarettes again after receiving my 510 kit, but even with two of them they would both go dead on a busy evening out on the town, so I did have a few of the remaining smokes I had, but within less than a week I stopped completely. Not feeling fully satisfied with a Joye 510 and 11mg PG juice, I got an eGo with 24mg VG juice and have been very pleased. No cravings whatsoever.

Even though I smoked lights, I find that the stronger juice (24mg) helps allow me get a really strong buzz to satisfy my stronger cravings for nicotine. I think if more people who don't find e-cigarettes as satisfying as actual smoking would change their mind if they knew that 16mg is NOT the strongest juice available. All the mainstream vendors I see out there sell 16mg as their strongest juice.

I just hit the three-month mark being cig-free, and e-cigarettes just keep getting more enjoyable.

Its a mental thing at first, accepting you new lil buddy. Its hard to believe e cigs will do you just as good as those analogs, but you'll soon find they do better. Its just a transition that takes a bout 2-3 weeks to reach a good peak effect to accept fully. But I still had lingering urges for months. The first couple, if I REALLY wanted a cig, id break down, but could only get a puff or 2 then get disgusted and chuck it. But generally, if you get that urge, take ya 5 good pulls and it goes away. Now, 10 months in, I can't remember when it happened, but I have no desire for analogs, and to stand near someone smoking is now offensive, not tempting. But even now, I'll get a hinkering for a tobacco flavor, and dekang or TW tobacco, though they are plain, and kinda like dirt, they hit the spot. Sometimes I just want a "raw" taste.
But the first couple days you feel off. Pretty sure its the lack of chemicals your so used to. Smokers cough should be gone in under a week, mine was 3 days. But next 2 weeks ish you will get a soar throat, and cough up tar just like you quite smoking, because you did. Once that subsides, go for a jog. You'll be shocked how far you can go now.;)

Yes, 510 is a perfect start, if not ego. using a 24 mg got me going well, and I was an ultra light guy. Don't be scared to use a 36 on a drinking night though. The first few weeks are getting used to new habits and getting comfortable, so if high mg is what gets ya comfy, then by all means. You can always drop back down at any time, and you probably will. High mg also helps getting over the lack of chemical boosters in analogs that were designed to make those 12 mg feel like 24, and keep ya hooked. Just "be easy bout it" , keep yourself satisfied, and it won't be long before you'll realize the stress of quiting that is expected, doesnt exist with e cigs, short of what you put on yourself.

Some folks make it sound way too easy. Took me from February until June before I could go without those 4-5 analogs a day. But after that it was pretty easy - just stopped thinking about them and they went away. Everyone is different. Do what you have to do....4-5 smokes a day is better than 30 smokes a day.

Didn't expect it to be easy...For me it just was....Smoked for 40 yrs...and knew if I didn't quit I would be on oxygen soon...Have enough problems don't need to tote around oxygen machines...I'd rather tote PV's around...:D Problem was..I enjoyed smoking...all of it..and when I vaped ...I didn't want a cigg any more....It just happened...If you need a cigg...then have one...much worse on you if you don't...you will quit them when it is right for you..some take longer ...some don't...Everyone is different... :)

Someone in here mentioned trying to keep yourself busy, by reading or watching a good movie, I'd like to add another:

Listen to the Podcast - Vaporcast, you can use your ipod or a Zune, or simply listen to it from your PC, either way, Scott Adam and Jack are the Bomb, and fun to listen to.

Also, whatever mg you vape, keep a carto around with a step higher in it for the rough patches (vape 18mg, keep a carto of say 24)

Hope this helps.

It was easier for me. I been smoking a long time! But I was never over a pack a day. Smoked for over 25 years. Tried to quit many times. Never worked. The reason it never worked is because I really did NOT want to quit. Tried vaping and I knew this was better for me. It satisfied by nicotine cravings and also smoking visual with the throat hit. I can feel the effects of nicotine better vaping then I could with analogs! The hardest craving trigger to light up, the only act vaping does not duplicate was after a meal. But that didn't take long to over come after I got my ego. The convinience of vaping any time almost any where out weighs the act of lighting up. You need really good vapor production and throat hit tho. If your not getting that consider upgrading to another model. It makes a difference! Also the nic level is important too.
