How long did it take you to get off analogs?

25 year smoker here. Smoked Marlboros and Pall Malls mostly. Then ten years ago, I quit those because the cigarette companies seemed to change their mixture and chemical components - switched to Black and Milds. Did you know that those things have a special NICOTINE STRIP in them?! And since they are unregulated, the FTC method's average nicotine content need not be disclosed by law. By lab test, they have anywhere from 100-250mg per cigar. No wonder I liked them so much. I smoked at least five a day (a pack) and inhaled EVERY ONE.

I first found an njoy PRO cigalike at a gas station in Sept of 2011. It sucked, but because of that crappy cig, I found this forum. I really did not completely halt all tobacco until 5th of Feb 2013 when I got my eGo T 1000mAH.

Haven't had one since.

VAPE ON!!

and may you never jones.

The basic rule here seems to be that we all differ. :)

I fell by 90% the first day, but the last ten percent took me about two months, all things considered.

Even so, I'd occasionally have a cig. My absolute last cigarette was on Christmas Eve and it stank. I had to re-brush my teeth afterward and even then, I could feel it hanging on them.

My mother, a fifty year smoker, switched over the day she got her cig-alike and never looked back. Nowadays she uses a Volt X2.

Wife bought an eGo Twist on Feb 1. I tried her extra battery with a T3 that day and knew I could quit. We had talked about ecigs and quitting for a long time as we were sick of them anyway. After that first vape I was hooked and haven't missed anything about analogs since. Gave away the last 3 packs I had. I smoked 1-2 PAD for 30 yrs and if I can give them up anyone can.

Just discovered vaping a week ago and found this forum. I just bought a fake eGo 650ma battery and 1.6ml clearmazer and a USB charger and a bottle of juice yesterday from a brick and mortar store. I had one ordered a starter kit from a vendor but it hasn't come in yet. I paid around $50 for it (yea i know overpriced, but it was worth it because it kept me from buying a pack) unfortunately I have my last pack of analogs and have smoked three this weekend, and one this morning, I find its hard to get over that "morning smoke" with my coffee... there are four left in the pack and hopefully when these are done I wont be buying any more analogs.

I smoked for 12 years, most of it rolling my own good quality tobaccos, but I also smoked pre-made packs. I was a real tobacco snob and thoroughly enjoyed fancy blends, the sweetness of burley, the aroma of Virginia fire-cured, the robustness of Turkish... I had multiple failed quitting attempts using all the NRT available. I even tried vaping a few times starting in 2009. The technology wasn't mature back then and the little look-alike ecigs did nothing for me.

I picked up an ego variant in early 2011 and stopped smoking the very next day. I woke up and rolled an nice analog that morning, went out on the porch with the coffee, lit it up and it tasted disgusting. I put the analog out and used the ego. I still have a half-used pouch of American Spirit rolling tobacco I keep as a reminder - I don't find it enticing in the least. I confess to smoking the occasional fine cigar every once in a while, maybe 2-3 times a year... must be Cuban or Dominican.

Now vaping has become a hobby. Not only does it keep me away from analogs, but I enjoy building battery mods, modding tanks, and mixing my own juice

Ten minutes, totally unexpected - as long as it took me to assemble my stuff and inhale once. Never looked back.
That was after decades of very, very heavy smoking and many horrible, tortured efforts to quit. Ecigs were REALLY effective for me.
I just psyched myself up in every way possible and vaped my fool head off until it 'took'.
Miracle, miracle, miracle for me!

It took about two months, all in all.

I immediately went from a pack a day to 2-5 cigarettes a day, and probably within a week no longer regularly owned a pack of cigarettes. But every couple of days...then every couple of weeks...I would crave a cigarette, so I'd have one.

The last time I bought a pack of cigarettes I did it knowing that I would most likely hate it, but figured I'd buy them anyway to prove it. Sure enough, I took a couple of puffs, and immediately thought about the better experience/taste I'd be getting if I was vaping instead.

And I've been happily vaping ever since! Someone lit a cigarette outside my apartment window last night and I could smell it...and was disgusted. Oh what a long way i've come!

I smoked for 17 years at about a pack a day. The day I got my first PV I had about 6 cigs and about a week later I was completely off cigs. After about 2 weeks I did cave one day after a really tough day at work, but since then I haven't had a cig. I think caving and smoking at that point was actually helped me realize that I no longer enjoyed smoking as it tasted awful and hurt my lungs. Every now and then I still get a mild craving for a cig, but I no longer feel the need to cave and have one.

Tried everything to quit for years, Chantix, Nicorette Gum, Patches, herbal remedies, cold turkey... each time the withdrawls got worse and worse and gave up "quitting". Tried 2 cigalike e-cigs and they worked well but broke down within a few weeks. Then I discovered decent mods and after I got my first one in the mail I went from 2 packs a day to none. Over 6 months now and not a single cigarette :)

With a decent e-ciggie - it's really very easy. 40 Marlboro reds a day for 30 yrs. I did that for a few days - but i was fiddling trying to find flavors i liked and could tolerate to vape all day (suffice to say bacon was NOT top of the final list), and smoked the MR's like mad at the weekend till i ran - almost -lol - out! I stopped totally August last yr, as did my wife (20 Camels a day for 31 yrs).

I have my 18 reds left, in case of emergency yanno, but we both have not touched them since then. They now smell and i imagine taste rather offputting to me and we both prefer our vaping - we both feel better - she is not whining that i constantly have to repaint the walls - she has to wash the blinds etc.

Just for fun i will tell you that i did once before stop smoking for 9 days when i was a bit younger and had a week off over Xmas and the New year - and i managed it for 9 days, without being jailed..yeah, but i spent the entire time drunk as hell and when i realised what i had spent on booze i restarted because it was cheaper!!
