How long do lava tube atomizers last?

Hi everyone, sorry if this post is in the wrong category, but it doesn't seem to fit with the kinds of questions in the technical discussions.

I'm interested in the lava tube e-cig, really like the idea of being able to pour e-liquid right into the devices and save money on blank cartridges.

BUT am I correct that the atomizer will burn out at some point? So how long does one usually last? I know this depends on how often you use it, but as a standardized way of comparison, how many puffs?

Does it last substantially longer than a regular cartridge? Or does one usually last only 300 or so puffs?

In other words, is one simply replacing blank cartridges with atomizers? Does that overcome any cost savings and cause it to cost more than just pre-filled cartridges? And how difficult is it to replace?

Sorry if these questions seem silly. I'm new to e-cigs and the lava tube seems like an ideal device for my needs but I'm a bit concerned about having to become a mechanic to operate the thing.

As for longevity of an atomizer, that's a good question. I've had some last months and others only one day. It's the nature of the beast. They type of ejuice you use plays a part of it also. Really thick or dark ejuice will clog anything, including cartomizers, quicker than a thinner clear ejuice.

I prefer using cartomizers. I run one until the draw gets hard after many top offs or the flavor gets nasty. They are cheap and more convient for me to use. I don't bother cleaning them these days and just toss it in the trash.
